First get the quad up on a stand or like I did on a single place snowmobile trailer. This height sure makes it a lot easier to work on. Take the tire off.
There was a tip on here that said that you could pull the axle out of the diff if you undid both rear shocks. This supposedly would give enough slack in the axles to pull it right out of the diff. This did not work for me. I am not saying it won't work...just that it did not work on my quad.
Next step is to remove the cotter pin and castellated nut off of the axle. The nut take a 27MM or 1 1/16 socket. I found using my impact gun made this an easy step.
There is a bevelled washer behind the nut. A tip is to take note of the way it comes off the axle, so that when you re-assemble it goes on the right way.
Next is to remove the hub. It will pull off of the splines on the axle.
