Outlander Brake Pad Replacement

Removing The Pads


*Jack up and securely support your ATV.

*Take off the wheels and remove pad pins.

*Remove caliper from it's support NOTE: Tie the caliper up with some wire, don't let it hang by the hose!

*Unscrew the pins, then take out the pads

*Measure pad lining thickness. The lining minimum is 1/32" thick. Replace if less.

*There are 4 wear indicators (hollow spots) on a set of pads. If even one has reached this hollow spot you must replace the pads. Be sure to always replace in pairs.

Installing New Pads


*Push caliper piston in before attempting to install pads.

*Use a C-clamp and an old pad to push it in. The old pad will prevent any damage to the piston.

*Make sure the spring is in place and install the pads

*Install pad pins by pushing pads against the pad springs to align slots

*Install caliper so that the rotor is between the pads.

*When done press the brake lever a few times to bring the pads up into contact with the rotor

*Check to make sure that they are working right and check for leaks before you ride.


Rotor Inspection


*The brake disc can be checked on the bike.

*Support the ATV and remove the wheels.

*Take a good look for deep scratches or grooves worn in it

*Measure the thickness

*Minimum for front is: .138" or 3.5mm / Rear is: .170" or 4.3mm

*Runout maximum is: .01" or .3mm
