I went to buy the Bombardier outlander 800 today, and to my suprise I came home with a sportsman 800 instead.  The guy at the shop talked me into riding them both, and I thought the sportsman had more of what I wanted in a quad.  I was real suprised, because I went there not even thinking of getting the polaris.  I took it out and put a few miles on it and am very impressed.  Also on a plus note they wanted 9200 for the outlander, and I payed 7500 for the sportsman out the door.  Nice suprise.

:omg: a Polaris? Just Kidding! You guys have no idea just how close I came to buying an 800 Sportsman over the Bomb :lolol:I checked out every big bore out there and it came down to those two. Polaris has some advantages over the BRP 800 like on board storage and the available accessories and of course like rhust  said the price.

Well I have a polaris dealer in the town I live in, but I drove 60 miles to another dealer, because I was set on the outlander.  I got there and found that they had the exact bombardier that I wanted.  The salesman asked me if I had tried the polaris, and I had not.  He brought out a outlander 800 xt and a sportsman 800.  I rode the outlander first.  They have a little trail around behind the store.  I was inpressed by the power of the outlander.  Overall a very nice machine.  I then climbed on the sportsman, (mostly with my mind made up to buy the outlander).  First thing that I noticed was how well the sportsman fit me.  It was very comfortable and everything was where it should be.  I rode it around, and it was very smooth and comfortable.  It actually felt better to me than the outlander.  I was in shock.  I use my atv for hunting and trail riding, and I love the storage that the sportsman has, so I decided to get the sportsman, and then after I said lets write it up, I found out that the sportsman was 7500, and the outlander was 9200.  I came in the shop expecting to pay about 9400 for the outlander, so price was no object.  Only time will tell how good the sportsman is.  All in all I thought both machines were great, the sportsman just fit what I needed better.

good reasons .. evertime I am asked which machine a person should get I always tell em ...( after I am thru with my outty sales pitch that is) .. to go sit on the machines. Comfort has to be high on the list. since it would be dumb to fork out the money on a machine you could only sit on for a couple hours before you HAD to get off it or die.

Ha nice purchase on the Polaris, Even though it took me 4 months to get mine running thanks to you guys. When I bought mine I researched everything in the market, I don't have a bomb dealer close that I know of bu I liked the fact that the polaris is steel A arms and framing where most other brands are aluminum but outlandish is right you have to buy what you like in the end you are the only one that matters!

Well Northern Bomb Man, yes you can add a box and most of us do but I like the idea of having onboard storage like the front storage on the Polaris! I really do not like having a box on the front.

Polaris has a lot of things going for it......yeah I chose Bomb and I'm glad I did but that almost didn't happen....Polaris makes a good machine, hell they all do these days

I'm with you outlandish,  I have an older sp 500 and even though the front and rear storage is'nt real big it still adds those spaces for stuff, like  ooh maybe a rope  for when bomb can't quite make it back:roflao::clp:    just kidding     it goes back to in the end it is your machine and as long as you like it that  is all that matters!!!!!!:sm:

Can't go wrong with either machine, to me they are both the quads to beat. Been a Polaris guy for years, they never let me down mechanically or performance wise. I was looking for a little more sport and less weight this time, but my friends have 800 Polaris and they are awesome as well. Congrats...and enjoy it !!!!!  :clp:

I am looking at the Sportsman 800 or a Bomb 800.  I am leaning towards a Bomb over the Polaris even though in my head the Polaris fits me better.  Hunting and trail riding are my uses.  I like the L&R 10 second removal of accessories on the SP and the wheels and tires, hitch, storage, plushness, and lighting plus the price on the sportsman.  On the bomb I like the weight, speed, and the V-Twin sound.  Mainly the sound.  I also like the Max feature even though I am getting a Ranger Also.  Just awesome sounding.  Should I get the polaris quad since I am adding a ranger?  Man I love the Bomb sound.  What to do what to do.

I had a 05 700 efi that I really liked. I flipped it over backwards on top  of me then it flipped end over end 5 more times down the hill came to rest on its wheels still running. It ended up being totaled out because the frame was bent. This happened on april fools day so it took a little convincing of my wife to believe that I was  on the way to the hospital. anyway While healing and after doing some research I decided to go find a Bomb dealer to ride an 800 outlander. I liked the power so much better over the sportsman also I like the ebs  and the lighter steering not to metion the weight savings over the polaris. but I like the ride of the polaris and the 4 wheel drive better  but havent used the visco loc much yet so maybe its just getting used to it time will tell. I also understand the polaris is lesss money but I now have a 42 month warrantee instead of 6 months. so that for me was major. I guess the main thing that made me buy the outlander was I couldn't get the smile off my face because of the power for about a week. And I only paid 7895 for my outlander and the polaris 800 eas going to be 7600 so that wasn't such a big issue for me. so far I'm happywith my purchase but I really like the polaris too. You made the best choice for you and you are the most important person. If the person paying is happy then they made the right desion

I will agree with you on the storage and the L&R stuff on the Polaris. It is without a doubt the best accessory set up by any quad manufacturer.:dan:

All of that comes at a price and that price is weight which Polaris doesn't have to worry about as long as hey keep it under 900 Lbs.

I sold my '05 SP800 and bought the '06 Outty 800.:ban:

I love the Outy V-Twin sound.:omg:

I looked at a Grizz, another King, a BF750 and the Polaris Sp800's (the SP for price comparison) before I got the Outty andthe Outty ended up being the cheapest.:tg:

I say that but let me tell you what all I considered. Price of the quad OTD with an extended warranty and all rebates etc.:aniwh:

I never liked the 1 brake lever before and I didn't like the Polaris one after getting it but with the Outty it isn't a problem.:thm:

I loved the SP's ability to wheelie at will but the Outty does it even better.:wh:

You guys must have different polarises in the states than up here cause everyone ive ever seen was a pos. And everyone i've ever talked to that had one says never again, most recently 2 weeks aga a guy at work said he traded a wolverine(which aren't super reliable themselves) on a new 700. He said he's scared to take it farther than he can walk home cause it self destructs.

But its your money, good luck

My buddies have Polaris quads. Great machines.  I do have one question though, is the EBS different than on the Bombardiers?  Following my buddies, their rear end's are sliding down the steep technical sections and they're all over the brakes while I'm driving down the same section with the throttle.  What's up?  How are they different?  It's as if the Bombardier is braking with all four tires in 4wd lo and the Polaris only engine brakes with the rear tires.

Again, if the X2 had all of the features and engine of Polaris's largest machine, I'd be riding Polaris right now, mainly because the local Bomb dealer is a jackass and the local Polaris dealer and service department are great guys buuuuttttt the X2 didn't deliver.

Well, dont quote me now cause I'm no expert, but I think the front end on the polaris only engages in a no traction situation, i am not sure on this one, but on desents in all wheel drive I think only the rear end is doing the slowing, but if you pick up the throttle, the front end re-engages, thats how it seems on mine anyways.

try the X2 on a steep decline. the Engine braking is far superior to anything on the market right now.

I have an X2 by the way. Check out my review in the polaris section.
