Hi, this is Folgers again. Does anyone know anything about Rubicons. Currently, as you all probably know, I have a Rancher, but some day, I would like to get a bigger quad. I've seen Rincons on the trails, and they seem to have a lot of power, but I've heard that the transmission is not built for heavy mud riding. I've also heard that they don't hold enough oil, and they overheat easily. That is why I am interested in Rubicons. Although I've heard from an Arctic Cat rider:roflao:that Rubicons can have computer problems. If somebody can tell me about Rubicons, that would be great!!!:)

I think he's Honda whipped. :P

I was thinking last night, I would like to get another honda strictly for rock climbing and mudding Like a 500 Foreman 4x4 with a detroit locker, a lift and some mud tires, I Mostly use my outty for trail rides and fast riding So it would be nice to put some bighorns on it, And if I had a honda i wouldnt be so afraid to scratch it up or break something cause i dont like the look of them anyways.. Maybe when I get a good job I'll buy a honda and use it for that but also let my gf use it on runs.

You are right, Hondas don't look as good as  they used to. Now, all of the Hondas models look like Rincons. I wish they would've kept the 2003 look.

my friend said that his dealer said the rincon shifting problem is due to the oil not being warm enough for the tranny. Said to putt around and warm the bike up a bit before expecting good shifts. He uses the thumb shift cause he said the auto searches for the proper gear too much. Did i mention it is gutless. It couldn't pull the pants off a sick who$e. Seemed to ride smooth though, and the seat is supposedly softer than the 650 rinny.

Another friend had a rubicon and it drove like a tank. Back when i had my griz we switched for a bit ,but only once. He got a griz now

Rincon's don't have any overheating problems, and there is no problem with the oil. The tranny is just not geared for mud riding and hauling stuff. You can add a gear reduction kit that will make it more suitable for mudding. If you are looking for a pure mud machine, the only thing that the Rincon has in it's favor is no belt for getting wet and slipping.

i have 2 2001 rubicons.....both have about 2000 miles and 250 hours on them  NOT ONE PROBLEM with shifting overheating etc...absolutly nothing  they are the best quads i have ever owened....one is the nice one and one if our beater that we arent afraid to scratch...and boy does it take a beating and not break.  THEY WILL LAST FOREVER.  sure they dont have the power or handling of the outy 800....but its always there in the end with dependability

i know 4 guys with rincons. 3 of which have had shifting problems. The other guy i havn't seen since he got his a couple months ago. 2 of them told me directly and the third tried to keep it a secret because he's a honda fanatic and always says nothing ever goes wrong with them

There was a problem with some o rings in the tranny making for a bad seal. Some that had problems with them just changed the rings out and it shifted great. Could have been a bad batch from the factory.  My 03 has shifted great since day one.

hey everone....i have a 2001 rubicon with about 2100 miles and i would like some new tires  even though i could get another 1000 miles off these stock ones.  I dont want a big mudder tire just maybe like an all around like a bighorn or GBC dirt tamers, i dont want something with big huge monster lugs , but wouldnt mind something that will power through the mud pretty good.   Any suggestions?????

I had a 2001 rubicon for about 2 years. I bought used and abused it. Took it Turkey Bay in KY and rolled it down a hill. The Ruby faired way better than me. Bent the rear rack(on the ruby, not me) and had to get it welded in one spot. Other than that It was ridable.

I also rode it into a lake(don't ask). 3 oil changes cleaned it up.

They are very dependaple. Heavy and slow and uncomfortable(01 had a stiff suspension and full time 4X4), always dependable.

For my birthday in Dec, the wife bought me a new 08 grizzly 700 EPS:ban:. Used the ruby as a trade in and they were exited to get it. I just hope the Yamaha is half as durable.

My Dad and I farm here in Arkansas we grow Rice, Wheat, Soybeans, and a little Corn, I have an O7 Renegade, and a 00 honda recon, on the farm we use my Dads 06 Rubicon the most I love my Can Am, but the Rubicon is a workhorse enough power to get the job done maybe not as fast as my Can Am but it will work all day and never complain during the summer the Rubicon is in the mud dirt and water all day long usually with a 20 gallon water tank on the back, and a 10 on the front along with a fold out 20 foot spray boom on the back. It climes across rice leves and spot srays in flooded rice fields have to sray at 4-6 mph in mud and water wile carrying me 190 lbs plus 30 gal. water and chemical mix, and a 50 lb spray boom never over heats or anything really reliable machine.
