A 3 inch diameter log crashed into the under carrage of our 250 Recon ES and smashed the angle sensor and what ever that box that goes around it is called. These I can replace but the connector has a waterproof sheath and this was ruined in the incident The connector body looks like it will still mate but not seal . The connector  is not available from Honda Parts. What can I do?

Not sure I understand what you mean, but if the connector still mates but the seal part is missing, could you use large heat shrink tubing? Or just paint on several coats of Plastic Dip?.........

Thanks

I thought about a tube of RTV as well. I don't know what will work until I get some new parts eg: the angle sensor and protector. Both ruined beyond recognition. The ATV is in storage where we ride. I have to have the right parts before I leave home.

Are the Honda Recon  ES models prone to failure? We bought it used and have had a lot of trouble with the electric shift mechanism.  A 12 mm wrench can shift it if the electric does not work. Does anyone sell a skid pan for this ATV?

As far as skid plates look here:  http://prm-atv.com/MN.asp?pg=products&grp=49&mfr=2

Are the connections water tight on your ES? A little dielectric grease goes a long way to waterproof your connections

Hey Outlandish:

I used some silicon seal and here it is 6 months later and the connector is still holding.  My other half likes to zoom in puddles and it hasn't balked yet. I still think the shop that worked on it forgot to put the skid pan back on.

My son complains that the 250 Honda that he rides sputters from time to time and he claims that the revs and gears are proper. Would you suspect dirt in the carb? It's hard to do maintenance in the field and I shutter about  pulling the carb in a dirty environment. Would you pull a carb off in the field and take it home if you were me? The quad stays in storage when we are not riding.

It must get pretty cold in Minnesota in the Winter. Do you ride all season?

what do you mean take it off in the field and take it home ........ like leave the atv in yer pasture or when out riding just leave it where it sits .... I would never leave mine anywhere I would get a tow back  in if I had to. Besides them carb parts are tiny and I would lose someting important lol

The quads are kept in locked storage when we are not there. But the environment is still dirty.
