My friend was able to get his hands on a new Thundercat and when we got home from the dealer today we took it out and my 07 Outty 800.  He took the factory tires off and put 26" Mud Lite Radial XTR's.  The Thundercat would still pull the outty everytime even with the slightly larger than stock tires, not by much, but everytime, undoubtedly, the Thundercat was victorious!!!  We took some pictures and recorded a few video clips of some hot passes and a few wheelies, that i'll be posting either tomorrow or friday...

He was pulling you not by much, and you have the XT pkg, 70 lbs.  Are you about the same size?  Did you trade rides any of your runs?

Lots of trees and mud there, see if he can keep up with you in the trees.

cc1999 said the rev limiter was on the diff lok, you might be able to get him in sloppy mud 4wd.  :)

The rev limiter will be easy to bypass.

He outweighs me by about 25lbs.  We did trade off and the results were the same (BTW, we were racing on blacktop)!  I personally thought the Thundercat was going to put a little bit more of a gap between us...  Now, the Thundercat also has less than 50 miles on it, so it hasn't fully broken in yet and also has slightly larger than stock tires on it...  Unfortunately, we do not have any videos of the 2 racing, b/c it was just us 2.  We did not have anybody to video it, but definately some cool vids!!  I'll tell you what really suprised me was how manageable the power was on the kitty!!!  As soon as he pulls them off his camera i'll post 'em up!!

The front bumper is an add-on.  Very solid, functional bumper, not flemsy at all!

Yeah, that bumper looks quite stout.

Does the speedo, etc. rotate with the handlebars? or the handlebars rotate under it?

It's not my Thundercat (Unfortunately), it belongs to a friend, so i'm not sure about the speedo and handlebar thing.

It could definately use an pipe.  I thought it would have some thump to it like to the Outty, but it purrs like a kitten (stands by it's name I guess haha).  But when you give it the gas, you can definately tell it has 950cc!

There will definately be some more videos tomorrow!  We got a couple of wheelie videos.  I've gotten wheelies down to a fine art on the Outty, but it was a little different feel with the cat.  It doesn't pull the front end up as easy as the Outty due to the extended wheelbase.  But trust me, if you lay into it and dont let up, it will flip backwards on you!  Yall have a good night.

I wish they left the wheelbase the same as the other cats. I like cat walking. On my outty i did it all the time.

Hello, my friend (giant22000) posted the pics and vids of my new Thundercat.  We have a few more that we will be posting this evening, all on asphalt.  In a near future weekend, we are going to get some video footage of trails, dirt road wholeshots, and the Thundercat heads-up against the Outlander 800 from 60ft, 300ft and an 1/8 of a mile...  We'll spare you the agony of the Thundercat vs. my wfie's Rubicon.... hahaha

Things I like about the Thundercat is it is an awesome, finely crafted & built piece of machinery. The ride, so far mostly on asphalt, is smooth and it handles very well at all speeds. It will pull a wheelie with no help from the driver, but does not wheelie out of control, which I like. I also expect Honda reliability from an Arctic Cat, IMO.

The main drawbacks, so far, are that, with all the hype, I expected more aggressive power (but it is still not broke-in) and the availability of after-market parts is still fairly limited. The dealer I purchased from, in Crowley, LA, didn't have alot of the accessories I asked him about.

If you haven't already put money down on one, I called every dealer with 150 miles until I found one. He had unloaded it Dec. 31st in the morning, and I bought it that afternoon. He had already tried to finance one other person, but the credit didn't go through.

I got a deposite on the first one that gets to my dealership. I dont know how long before they make it to canada thow. American Arctic cat dealership's can't legally sell to canadians. They can loose there franchise by doing so.  I think it will be hear by the end of jan or in feb!

So far, on the first day, I briefly saw 70 mph on the speedo but was afraid to hold it there for any length of time since it is not fully broke-in.

IMO, the outlander pulls wheelies too easy. The thundercat's power is very controllable, and while it will pull a wheelie easily, it does not do it uncontrollably. If riding them out for 100's of feet is your riding style, I'm afraid you're going to be disappointed, especially coming from the Outlander 800. I think the Outy will still be the best "thrill riding ATV".  I compare the two of them like riding 70 mph on a go-cart versus 70 mph in a Cadillac. Both are going the same speed, and the Caddy may even pull away a little, but the go-cart is going to feel a lot faster.

I considered several brands before buying, but decided on the Thundercat because of both power/speed and reliability. I consider Honda to be the best quality build, followed closely by Arctic Cat. I also know Honda is anything but a thrill ride. This is just my opinion though, and what I have choosen to buy since I was spending my hard earned money.

Them mud lite xtr's are pretty heavy and that will slow it down a fair bit when your racing your buddys outlander. Good tire for what there made for but not a racing tire.
