"Delay shipments to dealers"   is a way to cut costs???

Seems to me it's a sure fire way to piss off and loose customers.  Like the 09 Thunderkitten, I'll bet alot of guys that wanted a quad  were told, "don't know when they're coming" , so they went and bought an Outy800 or a

(God forbid) PooPoo800. :)

i talked to chuck at the cat factory who told me there delayed again until march.

i asked him what the hell is going on with cat and this mistery machine he couldnt answer that question, but he did say there not even being built yet WTF!!!!!!!

i called my dealer and asked them as well and told him that im coming down to collect $10.000 out of the 12 that i had given them back in july, and if its not here by march i will be collecting the other 2g.

what sucks is i already have 2000 dollars worth of parts for this machine oh well.

anyone who is purchasing a tcat and wants to find out some info here is the number to cat factory 218-681-9799 extension 5513 ask for chuck.

on a second note ive owned a can am and for the type of riding i do the 800 doesnt cut it.

Thats not the same person that I spoke with last month, so I thought I would give it a try, turns out if you don't use that extension number there system hangs up on you. So I tried again, and punched in that extension, then got a voice mail. What do you think the Odds are he will ever call me back. LOL

I called my original dealer last week to ask for my deposite back, and was told there rep was just in and said they were built and ready to ship out next week, meaning this week now. LOL I told them I was coming down at the end of next week if it was not there I was going to need my deposite money back. LOL

I have to report I am shocked, Chuck did call me back(less than hour wait) , he was a really nice guy. But the bad news was that there are none in production right now, he was not expecting to see any come down the line till January, his official position as to an ET for prodution to start was SOON,LOL . I was able to pen down that the premere dealers were like to see the first units hit in January, other dealers that did not place there orders at the dealer show last June,  would likely be out in March for there first units to land. So it looks like my original dealer is still full of BS and I will be getting my deposite back next weekend , and looking to take the first one that I can get my hands on, from what ever or were ever that may be, come next year. I am not planning to play this deposite game with any of these dealers anymore. Maybe I will get lucky and my white Rincon will show up this week.

I'll tell ya something guys...and I don't want to get on my soap box here, but in the original post of this string, sales figures are way off this year, folks are losing they're homes at an alarming rate, car sales are in the toilet, etc, etc, etc...

The beginning of a storm is coming...The CEO's of these large corporations keep moving every manufacturing site in the country to Mexico and China, we are just starting to see what is coming, folks can't afford to buy these toys anymore and it's only going to get worse...

Yes, there are still jobs, but they are service jobs, not manufacturing positions which pay much higher wages...A country who doesn't make and sell "things" isn't going to last, we all can't work at Starbucks or Burger King...

I don't say this to rub it in, but I do believe that I made this "call" in my post yesterday. For what its worth, it sucks that you guys have had to wait this long and may have to wait longer for this quad to be issued. I know how it is to look forward to something and be told over and over it will be two weeks, and never have it show up. It sucks and whats worse, some folks have substantial amounts of money involved in this quad. Now that it is looking bad "for real" as to whether or not this quad will even be built, I won't be making any "thunderkitten" posts anymore. when its all said and done, we all want folks to have fun with their quads no matter the make, and it sucks to see some guys waiting on a rig that might not show up. Best of  luck on this one AC guys.. and if any of you decide to come back to the Can-am fold, we will welcome you with no hard feelings! :tg:

Interesting article.  A/C isn't new to this, they had to file for bankruptcy reorganization back in the early 80's and there was no shortage of snow then cause I lived in Minnesota back then.

you know what really stinks is i sold my new 07 650h1 back in june, worked my butt off round the clock between work and side jobs i was putting in close to 90-95 hrs a week in:puke: burned myself out but i did what i had to do so i could pay for this machine with cash and also buy all the parts that i wanted that it didnt come with.

when i was told oct 15th i was skeptical about the parts i orderd figuring they would be on back order for months to come, problem is it was just the opposite the parts come in and the machine didnt, oh well nothing i can do but wait.

in any case my dealer gave me a new helmet and also didnt charge me for the mrp racks that i orderd, i said cool much appreciated,as the months went on i started calling dealers some told me yup ther coming others didnt have a clue a few said another delay:omg: its hard to believe such a big company would leave there own in the dark without any explanation.

3 delays later i started losing faith in arcticat, why spend thousands of dollars in adversment and have a dozen magazines do articles on a machine that they been delaying without explanation????

in any case, ive been making calls to dealers all over different states one guy says oh ya there coming next week i said really oh ya if you want one send me the money and ill call as soon as it gets in, then he says he has confirmation i said really your the first he went on b.s. me about how he moves hundreds of catsa year and he will be the first dealer in the states to get them i said hmmm, do you have the vin numbers on your shipping papers he replied no but there coming, i said dude your not getting any until they send you the vins to them so join the rest and thanks for nothing.

yes im feeling like the econimy is getting ready for a recession myself, construction is down, people losing there homes and getting cars repoed, mom and pop shops are going belly up and huge companys are laying people off, work is slow but so is everything else the stores arent busy at all in retail usally this time ofyear there buried, all ican say im glad i worked my ass off and put $$$$ away.

yes im getting tired of the tcat threads myself i went to my dealer and collected $10.000 back and said if its not here within 2 mos im canceling my purchase.

all ican say is THANKS ARCTICAT FOR SUCH GOOD CUST RELATIONS AND EXPLAINING TO THE DEALERS WTF IS GOING ON, YUP THATS DEFINITLY GOING TO RAISE SALES.

I GET BETTER SERVICE FROM MCDONALDS

No offence, but you gotta admit it's a little bit funny after all the bragging and slamming that took place on here. We might never see the magnificient, caned-ham killing, rocketship known as the  T-cat

well thats part of the fun though. doin a little slammin and braggin all in a fun type way. its just sad that some can dish it and not take it like you see on some of the other forums. I do have to admit I wish it would get here already too. the way I figure it... if it IS a rocket ship, we will see dozens and dozens of AC owners flock in here to try their luck at the slammin and braggin. which can be a good thing for us cause if we all handle it right we can build the AC area up rather nicely and be just that much better off with the info that will flow thru. :)

Its still going to get built, I am not sure where people get the idea its been canceled all together, just keeps getting pushed back. I have no doubt that it will get built. Its looking like January before any start to hit the dealers though, and March before all the dealers have them. Its just more delays that is so frustrating after they announced it way back in June,  it was said then that it would be mid October before any get released , then it was pushed back to November, and now its been pushed back to January. All be that I am not happy about all the delays, I am quiet POed about it, mainly because its winter now and the riding season is pretty much over now. But a quick reality check will show that so far its just missing its original date by 90 days. IMO that is not really all that bad considering its an all new machine. Also the financial news of delayed shipments, I am not sure has a major effect on the ATVs. The ATV lines are running and they are shipping product as I type, just not the T-cats. I just spoke to the AC factory people yesterday. At this point I am looking at like this, its going to be here in time for the spring riding season, rather then collecting dust in garage all winter letting the warranty run out.

I believe I am the one that said that I wouldn't be suprised IF it never made it to production. That doesn't mean I don't want it to.. just a bit of speculation taking into account all of the information we have heard so far. CC1999.. you seem to be quite the optimistic guy, I commend that. Not many folks would have that attitude..

Well I spoke with someone on the engineering end and the holdup is not there.  He assured me the quad is not undergoing any changes other than toying with springrates in the spikeload limiter and axle testing.  He said that they are not using "different" axles in the Thundercat but using the machine to test new axleshaft designs that will be passed down to their entire lineup in the future.

He said the holdup is both a manufacturing issue and to a lesser extent, an accounting one.  Basically, Arctic Cat uses one assembly line for all their products.  When there were whispers of this monster quad, I never believed them because I was aware of this fact and that such an undertaking would basically require a second complete assembly line to retain production.  Well, x that.  They are using their current(single) line.  The reason for the holdup is the requirement to change out a number of machines, from using a different cnc program to weld the frames, different cuts/lengths on the frame, etc.  Basically, when they send the TCat into production, they will ONLY be building Thundercats for awhile.  They are trying to "overstock" all their other quads(including the 700h1 and 700h1prowler) to prepare for this downtime on the assembly line.

IMHO they should fire their process engineers for allowing this "bottleneck" to happen in the manufacturing process.  While it's actually "not a big deal" it has done MUCH to undermine the efforts of Arctic Cat to present themselves as a "state of the art" company.  That said, I've heard nothing but praise about the motor assembly plant in St.Cloud.  I was told that their manufacturing tolerances were exceeding spec by as much as 15-20%.  Basically, the motors should be fantastic:ban:

thanks for the info engie,as far as the tcat never being built goes i dont think cat would have thousands of dollars in adversment and roughly 10 to 12 tcats in atv country being tested by different dealers if they were not going to develop them.

cc1999 definitly has more patience than i do, in all reality he is looking at the positive side of a late delivery.

In all fairness Mass I probably would not be taking it so well, If I had sold my only machine and was in the situation you are in. I think you have been pretty patient yourself concidering  how many months its been that you have been without a quad over this deal.

You've waited this long, might as well stick it out. I hope this quad is worth the wait, on paper it looks like it will be.

I'm sure it will have the usual 1st year production issues(they all do)and it seems no quad comes with the best tires, muffler or shocks, so right off the bat they need another 2k dumped into them(they all do).

Personnaly, I like AC's , my first quad was a TRV, it was a tank, it would go anywhere I was willing. My 650 is a tank that is more comfy, easier to steer, handles better(now with mods) and is a heck-of-a-lot faster.:)

Artic Cat will make this big kitty. They have gone to far not to. I am sure it will allot of positives but it will also have some negatives. It's funny reading some of the Dirt Wheel articles about not having enoughf ponies. Now some of these guys are saying that these 4x4's have too much power. I want to see the big kitty come out as it will push other manfacturers to up the stakes! I hope all you guys get your big Cats!:)

YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH POWER!:ban:

well lets just round it off to a year, what the hey:tg:

in any case i talked to a guy at steel horse out in tx he says the shocks and handling of the machine is matched to the machine, as others say it acts like a sport quad suspention, i guess from what i understand they put progressive springs on these machines and also put some squat into it as well when accelerating, which tells me that it acts like a 4 link in a drag car, im curious of the instant center myself.

i wish i had it for the winter as i like to ride in the snow and ice, i usally stud the stock tires and we have a huge pond we have an oval we race on its a blast pulling the inside tire up coming out of the corners:dan: but in any case ive waited this long whatsa few more months, after all good things come to those that wait. in theary

massmudder, 1999, best get insurance as soon as you know the vin, those dealers would not be happy giving your money back twice, if something should 'happen' to your AC's in shipment.  Of course they would have to give it back, but it might drag out a long time, specially if they weren't shipped in the first place.

Also, those quads will be a target for the thieves living among us.

If I remember right, Mass. isn't to much of a conservative state, so I don't think you would fare too well shooting someone over the theft of an ATV. That goes double for letting the dogs loose to maul them!
