Arctic Cat ThunderCat 920cc EFI Twin 4x4 ATV is suppose to be revealed at the dealership show next week. So the rumors say and confirmed by a person who says they work there.

That guy we were taliking with on the frontier, I trhought he said there would be one larger and one smaller then 920cc. I took that to mean what I had originally herd that it was going to be a 950 EFI V-twin . Either way I will likely have to have one if its over 900. My can -am has a awesome high output motor but I doubt its got enough to cover something over 900cc's.

a lot of the cats I have seen are great work horses but not big on quickness and speed none of em are ever mentioned as being close to any of the outtys .... think this will be different with the 900's????

Ya know I am not sure, but i can't imagine with a motor 120-150cc's  bigger not beating a Can-am 800 in a drag race.  150 cc's is a lot. Can-am set the bar so I am sure AC had couple of there 800s down in the AC R&D facility just to make sure they would be the new top dog.  Think about it, look what building the mighty 800 did for Can-ams business these past couple years. I am sure AC took notice and is planning to try and duplicate what Can-am did to put them on the map.  But whats interesting is that rummor has it that can-am has a 1000cc quad in the works, so it makes me wonder if AC does release this Bad Kitty, How long will it take Can-am to come on the seen and burst AC's bubble.

I hope so, but the way they pulled the data from those Euro sites and failed to anounce the X in last fridays 2008 press relaese, I am just not going to hold my breath that the 1000 is really coming this year, from Can-am anyway. I really hope it does. I hope AC brings this ThunderCat to market too.

If cat is putting a big 900plus cc in their ATV's they better change alot more than just the engine otherwise everything will brake faster. I cant possibly think of what use an ATV of that size would be used for other than pulling large farm equipment. We all know the 800 outy has way more power than what most people would ever use. I would think it would be a gas hog also and weigh alot.

Look at the polaris 800, the 650 outty can beat it. So whats to say a 800 outty cant beat a 950 cat?

cc1999, save your money. if you get an artic cat 950, before you know it can-am will come out with a 1000. then youll just have wasted your money, because i know you would trade er in. but still, 950ccs, can you say 35 inch outlaws?

It looks like they took a huge engine and stuffed inside the same cat frame\suspension. exaclty what I was hopeing they wouldnt do. They can keep it! I cant imagine how dificult its going to turn when on the gas. They give you the power to turn 30's stock but put 25in tires on it? of course they will deny your warranty claim when you do.

Im not trying to bash here. Im just wondering how much R&D went into this before they plopped a huge power engine into it.

I had the 650 V-2 (hence the name thecat) before turning to the 800 Outty. I do think this one is 2" longer. My was f***ing scary @ 50 mph, I can only image doing 70+ on it, if it will do that. It probably is geared lower for more pulling and muddin'. They needed power steering worse than any other atv. If you've never rode one, its like driving a brute force with a broken arm. And VERY top heavy but I do think its the best looking  bike out there! Now that someone broke the 800cc barrier, its on like Donkey Kong for everyone else!

that has to be a typo. more like 88lb of torque. Simular to a vtwin motorcle engine.

It has a 2 in longer wheelbase to increase stabiltiy but this will aslo make a bigger turning radias unless they redo the front steering geometry.

That's sounds pretty radical for quad.  Does anybody feel this could be a typo as mentioned above.  If it isn't a typo, I guess they will be putting 350 small blocks in them next!!! lol

I was thinking the same thing when I read the 188 lbs of torque. I bet your right it supose to be 88 lbs.

I think the data was taken down because the dealers are not meeting till thursday. I would bet they have it  back up by next week after the dealer meeting. Meeting is Thurday.

I just got done calling 4 dealers in my region, none know anything about a Thundercat, as was expected. They are all heading to the dealer show in Vegas this week. My dealer is going to be calling me with the price after its anounced on Thursday. Then if I want one I will be first in line for it. I am pretty sure I will have to try one just to see what its all about.

Here is the latest info I posted on Highlifter about the TC 950. Get it will you can. CC1999 what did you find out from your local dealer?

" Hey guys,

I just wanted to publically thank you guys for helping out on that reference to Steel Horses in Lufkin, TX.

I called them today, and spoke to Jeffrey. What a breath of fresh air to finally speak to someone that knew about the TC 950EFI. I am much more reassured on purchasing this machine.

Here is what he told me. Many dealers will not be getting these new CATs, they are limited, and the high volume dealerships will only be getting so many. Steel Horses will be getting 8 TC 950s, and they have 4 people on the list, and people that put down a $500 deposit will be guaranteed a machine. He said right now he should be getting them sometime in October, maybe, maybe September. I asked him about the price while none of the other dealers commited to one price, and many were going to charge prep fees, shipping, etc... Jeffrey told me straight up they were going to sell them OTD MSRP $10,500, and if you put down the $500 deposit it will be applied to the MSRP. I was happy to hear that. When you get a new hot release like this you can't expect to get much off MSRP, but at the same time, I don't want the price jacked up (price gouging), or charge prep fees, etc... Even though 10,500 is high, thankfully Steel Horses isn't going to rape us on the deal. I heard rumors from my other friends, some dealers were going to charge extra $500 or $1000 depending if they had any other competition in the area.

So, now its time to sit back, and wait for the call to come pick it up. We have some big plans for this machine, and will be able to provide an excellent comparision against all the other top dogs.

Thanks again guys on that reference."
