I have some friends that just moved to Grand Junction CO, I'm thinking of making a trip back there this spring and would like to bring my ATV and possibly do some riding near MOAB, I've heard there is a LOT of open riding in this area?

Does anyone have any advice or input on this region for riding or point me in the right direction to get some?

Anyone live near this area that might want to hook up?

I'd consider myself an above average rider and I like to open it up when I can!

There is an area in the mountains behind the little city of "Rifle" which is about 20 minutes up the road from GJ, just past "Parachute", you can go forever, beautiful scenery and views, forest roads to go fast and tight trails too! If you like camping go for it, you can pretty much just pull over anywhere and pitch your tent.

Only problem in Colorado in the spring(depending on what time in spring) there will still be a lot of snow in the mountains. especially in the Uray- Telluride areas. Been there at the end of May and they were plowing 8' of snow off the trails with a D8 CAT:cold

COLORADO is beautiful in the july august time The alpine flowers are in bloom and the 14,000 ft peaks are hikeable and all the trails to all the old ghost towns are open and it is not freezing cold so camping is great too.:2cent:

I used to live in Colorado and last week I talked to friends who live in the Rifle area, they said there is more snow there than there has been for years. Crested Butte (while not real close to Rifle, but still in the mountains) has received 25 plus feet of snow this year so if you ride early in the year you will get in snow.
