Hey Outlandish,

Grizz and I were just there at the end of July.  Great trails south and north.  Tri-County corridor is very rough though.  Have an extra map of Bayfield County if you want it.

I've stayed at the Red Motel in Iron River, they have a couple nice little cabins, very reasonable prices! I'd love to go, but we have plans on hitting Spider Lake that weekend...bummer. Happy riding!

:pu: Bummer, I have an R/C Race that weekend at my house for the Minn.  traveling point series. And it is my Birthday weekend also on the 23rd. I wish I could make it, but there is going to be about 100 people coming to my house to race R/C Cars both Sat and Sun that weekend from all over, Thunder Bay Ont. to Rochester and St. Cloud and the Cities, and Detroit Lakes and Bemidji. The 3rd weekend in Oct. is the next available weekend for me to do any wheeling away from home..

As long as you are registered in your state, a trail pass is all you need. About $17 for a year I think Yamihoo has posted a link to buy one online

How can it be coordinated as far as meeting on a given trail?  There's a million places to stay, many on trails.  Won't do any good being on a trail though if everybody is somewhere else.

Will there be one recommended resort for "resorters" and a campsite for "camper-types"? Or at least a "gathering place" that everyone can find.

When it gets to be closer to the date we need a list of everyone's cell phones numbers (RE: Outlandish. LOL) for us that gets lost.  Good idea too would be a yellow traffic cone set alongside the pulloff for the trailhead for the day.  They're easy to miss if you aren't familiar (me).

Many cell phones don't work up there. Might pay to check with your phone company.

Hopefully a hunter would know better than to hunt on well used, designated ATV trails. To answer your question, archery season will be open but not opening weekend ?????

Made reservations at Lumbermans too. Have to program the "Tom-Tom" to get us there.

By that time I should have finished my genuine Wisconsin "Trail Ambassador" course. As an OFFICIAL field representative of the DNR there will be foot and wall locker inspections as well as decibel testing, vehicle width measurements, and helmet DOT stickers for all participants.:roflao:

We will be up there on Thursday nite and leaving Monday morn not sure on what campgrounds we are staying at we are thinking maybe the Tri-Lake Timbers, are there going to be any other campers? Lumbermens is nice place, like Outlandish said there is a restaurant/bar next to them, gas across the street and the Tri-County Trail behind the motel. The Red Motel is across the street from Lumbermens if any buddy is staying there the only bad thing about Red Motel is you have to park your truck/trailer in the gas station next to the motel the gas station has a big area for the motel parking only. No I was not hinting on being the trail leader I dont have a speedo and have been told I tend to go at a brisk pace my wife is used to it and I also dont want Turboman to break in his ticket book!:roflmao: and Ill have to break his ruler also. but I will help put together a loop to ride Saturday it would be more trail than routes (roads).

*People who need trail pass's keep you receipt and have your registration card with you the times I have been checked they asked for both.*

JUST GOT A CLASSIFIED COMMUNICATION STATING THAT THE "DEAD HORSE RUN" TRAIL NEAR GLIDDEN, WI, HAS BEEN CLOSED DUE TO FLOODING AND DOWNED TREES. THIS REPORTEDLY IS THE MOST CHALLENGING COURSE IN THE STATE AND NOT FOR BEGINNERS.

Don't know if will have any effect on planned "Iron River" trip a month-and-a-half away. Probably none.

***This memo will self destruct after 30 seconds. Recommend turning off your computer to prevent shrapnel damage to persons within 50 feet. BE AFRAID. BE VERY AFRAID!  :roflao:
