There is a nice parking area in Duquette also.  I used it last weekend when we rode there....As your heading northeast on 23...there is a country store/gas station on your left at Duquette...there is a service road on the same side of the highway..just go on that about 1000 feet and there is a little known parking area there... then you will access NEMADJI by heading east on Erickson Farm Road.  works pretty slick and saves you putting extra miles on the truck/ trailer winding around to the parking area inside the forest.:2cent:

Oh yeah...count me in for the ride.:tg:

I forgot to mention....the parking area is big enough for motorhomes...and like I said, it is "little known"   I was just there over the Holiday weekend and there were only 3 vehicles besides mine using this parking area.

Also forgot to mention about the parking area that is on the west side of 23 just slightly past the Duquette Countyry Store........

It is illegal to ride the ditch in that area but there is a trail right at the parking area that leads you directly accross from the Erickson Road...It is a legal designated trail crossing.

I've been told by some of the locals that they have ZERO tolerance if caught riding the ditch along highway 23.

Nemadji is a nice ride, although it gets extremely dry and dusty. We ride there several times a year although it's best with snow on the ground.

Hi Everyone - I just signed up! I also am a part of ATVNATION.com...and cementhead1 posted there that you are having this ride! I've also been told before that this is the place to go for can-am questions etc...

So, I'd like to hook up with all of you for this ride and was wondering about a place to stay... I have been wanting to ride Nemadji for a long time now!!

Welcome aboard Star. Yep this is the place for anything and everything Can-Am. There are a couple of campgrounds nearby and a few motels listed in this thread. killswitch and I am staying at the Americinn in Moose Lake but there are other, cheaper alternatives to that.
Hope to see you there!

Since I am totally unfamiliar with this area and dont want to be just dangling anywhere.... where are the majority of everyone staying?  And I wouldnt mind sharing lodging expenses with someone either if there is availability...

Star a lot of the people coming are going to do a 1 day ride on saturday and not spend the night anywhere...Big Jake is staying at a motel in downtown Moose Lake, I am at the motel near the freeway in Moose Lake.....some are camping too but I'm not sure how many are even coming. Might be a small group this year......that's OK too though ...less dust LOL

Do you have a tent or camper?

I'm pretty sure there are vacancys at the campground I stay at by Sandstone...it's about 20 miles from Nemadji.

http://www.countrysidecampground.info/

It's there first year open and is usually not full.  I have a seasonal site there.

Well I do have a tent......You're staying there too?  This place sounds nice - and close to ATV trails...is there access from the park or will we need to trailer?

Going to be making up some decals here tonight so if any of you want some I can have them at the ride. Just as long as you only pick from these. No custom work right now please  http://aurorawheelers.com/store2.html

Let me know.......

Star wrote: Well I do have a tent......You're staying there too?  This place sounds nice - and close to ATV trails...is there access from the park or will we need to trailer?Star, if you would like to go that route, you can follow me to the parking area.

My camper stays there year round....We (me,wife, and 3 kids) go there pretty much every weekend that the campground is open (May thru October)...The campground has an indoor pool....and a hot tub...which is nice to jump in after a long ride.

You would still have to trailer your wheeler to Nemadji from there.  No trail close enough to jump on from the campground.

I am planning on staying at the campground and leaving from there early saturday morning.  I will park at the parking area next to the Duquette Store and ride the wheeler on the trail to the main parking place inside Nemadji State Forest to meet up with the rest of the crew...  It sounds like I may have 2 more riders/ machines meeting me at the campground early saturday too.

For those of you with a GPS, the coordinates for the parking area next to the Duquette store is N46 22.242    W092 33.239

I don't have the coordinates saved for the main parking area inside the forest....if anyone else has them, please post them.

Shawn
