I decided to give Engine Ice a try:

Open the radiator cap.

Remove the lowest bolt on the water pump.

Remove the bleeder screws on each of the cylinder heads.

Remove the upper and lower radiator hoses.

Shake out everything you can.

Reinstall everything except the radiator cap.

*Since I had some hard to clean out mud lodged in my radiator, I jumped at the chance to remove my radiator and give it a good cleaning.*

Fill the system with a 50/50 mix of distilled white vinegar and distilled water.

Let it run until the fan cycles on and off.

Once cool, drain everything again.

Now, fill system with distilled water only.

Let it run again until the fan cycles on and off.

Again, drain the entire system.

You'll be supprised how much more you can get out if you simply shake the atv back and forth.

Fill the system with Engine Ice.

I noticed an immediate difference. It took forever for the fan to come on and when it did it seemed a whole lot cooler air coming at you.

All of this was done in neutral with the engine idling. Maybe the occasional reving to speed things up.

The water and vinegar was from the Engine Ice website.

Very cheap BTW. 1/2 gallon of vinegar around $2. 1 gallon of water $1.

Engine Ice, not so cheap but hopefully it will be worth it. I live in the South!:tg:

WARNING:

I should have mentioned that Engine Ice and antifreeze do not mix well and may cause problems. This is part of the water and vinegar flushing.

I also failed to mention that I rinsed out the overflow reservoir as well.

Does engine ice freeze? I might try but, with our winters I wouldn't want a freeze up...that wouldn't be cool   :tg:

Is it an antifreeze?
Yes, Engine Ice Hi-Performance Coolant is an antifreeze offering freeze protection to -26oF (26 degrees below zero)

Here is the link.

Should work then...very rarely does it get that cold here. Now if I was out west it would be a different story.
