Today I picked up a replacement CV boot It was not a factory BRP boot it was universal type. For $ 17. And after looking at the factory boot it is not a rubber the front ones look to be some type of hard plastic . Thats why it cracked . I started with removing the front hub. I found 1 1/16" socket fits the big nut. Its on tight I used my 3/4" air gun to get it off. I then pulled off the spindle undoing the 3 bolts on the bottom and the one nut on the upper ball joint. TO get the shaft off the CV joint I used a rubber hammer and just hit it and it come out. It had a spring type ring on the end of the shaft that it will unsnap relasing the shaft from the CV Joint. The photo shows the whole shaft off the bike but im sure it would been easer to do this on the bike. You should also look the see if it has 2 small angled parts on the spring clip you can spread open and slide it off easy hidden in the grease I did not find on mine so atap with a hammer took it off . This boot replacement come with the new clamps and the little tool to get them tight. To put the CV back on the shaft I just made sure the spring ring was in the grouve in the shaft and just tapped it back togther with the rubber hammer. Attachment: cv5.jpg (Downloaded 814 times)

The front CV boot are some type of plastic , the rears look to be rubber. The fronts feel hard and brittle . I'm thinking this will has to be replaced on all 4 soon. E bay has replacements and my local dealer had a aftermarket one in stock for only $17.00 This can be done in about 45 min. . It only took me 10 min to reassemble it all back on the bike. I did not have any shop manual so there may be a easer way to do this. Or a correct way . But this worked for me. Have fun. That doesn't look that bad at all, it looks alot easier than the rears. There is alot involved with the rears. But I glad to see you did yourself instead of taking it to a dealer. Josh

u would think they would warranty that. By looking at the pic it's pretty obvious it is a failure not a puncture. Did u try ?

For $17.00 for a aftermarket boot that was in stock and a wait time of 1 week for them to order a stock boot. I did not even try. The stock boots look like they are junk hard plastic. I will see how this boot does compared to the other side. My bike is only 5 1/2 months old ,1100 miles 85 hours. It was much easer for me to just do it my self. I may bring them the old boot so they can make a record of it so if others have the same problem they can do a recall HA ha ha. I just looked at mine and they are like a plastic in front and rubber in rear. You made it look easy. Now if mine goes[when] I know how--thanks maxdun

Try to work a deal with your dealer for a new boot. He can get the warranty money and you get a new boot for next time. Later! Frank

Good post I just had to replace the rear axle on my Yamaha Grizzly as it was bent beyond belief. I also was dissatisified with the hard plastic boots on the front of my 06 Bomb and though about ordering replacement rubber boots. I found a great place to get boots, clamps and axles if anyone needs them. thecvman.com has a great selection of cv parts very reasonably priced and lots of info on doing the job yourself. Haven't heard from motelcambodia for awhile. There is a guy on ebay, the cvman or cvguy, seems he sells alot of them.

me too under warranty but it was a freak occurance i think .Both rear sides small clamps spun on the axle shaft and one ripped. Looking back the only reason i can come up with is that after playing icebreaker for a while(in about 1"-2" of ice in puddles)then stopping for a bit & going again, some ice chunks must have gathered in the factory plastic rear boot protectors and froze there

Look for a 2 small round size of a paper clip wire on the spring clip sticking up near the splines and the CV holding it to the axle. Spread them and it should slide off. You may need to clean off all the grease. For boots look for FAST BOOT. $17 to $20 and most ATV dealers it includes a small tool and new bands to hold it on.

i ended up taking the hole axle into the dealer and they got a tool from brp that is for poping them off, very simple tool to make,
