I just replaced the two clutch springs ( no weights ) and now I'm having trouble

shifting from forward to reverse. Rechecked everything, looks good. Followed John

Cannons video. What gives? Thought about going back to old springs, but that

transmission spring is bastard to get on. John made it look easy??????

Any help will be appreciated

I too used the EPI clutch kit in my 2007 800 Max XT.  Put in both the White Primary & Red Secondary.  Mine too seemed to shift in and out of gear much harder.  After awhile of using the EPI setup I put back in the stock springs and the shifting was back to normal.  I recently put in only the EPI White Primary and left in the stock secondary and it still shifted in and out of gear harder than normal...not AS hard as using both springs, but harder.

I wonder, is the primary clutch spring in the EPI kit stiffer than stock? IF so, perhaps the clutch isn't shifting out a bit with the EPI spring, like it would on the stocker at idle. That would explain the harder shifting..

Maybe need to slow down the idle, or the one way bearing could be dirty/hanging up??

I can't tell, what machine he is working on but, if it is an EFI model, the ECM does not allow for any idle adjustments.

I figured the idle hadn't changed, and it seemed that many folks had the same problem.. so I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they had put the clutches back together properly. The one variable is the spring it seems to me.

Thanks for your input, ican, I have the same springs and I can't shift it without reving it a little in neutral first. This sucks! I'm going to call EPI & Highlifter to see how to cure this problem. I run 27" 589's & Maxxis Big Horns. Thats what I thought the springs were for, to help with the bigger tires. I hope they can help.

:pu:
