I have taken the bike to the dealer 3 times for over heating problems 1st time they said that the contacts were dirty on the relay  and thats why so I took the bvike out the same day from picking it up and within 5 hours from leaving the dealer getting ready it was over heating again. It took me over 4 hours to get back while I was able to ride for about 1.5 hours without this happening. Took a video of the same problem showing over heating problems again said cant duplicate I have change the belt bleeded the radiator anc I even put a new clutch by Dalton and still over heating I went out got bike of the truck and rode for about 1/2 an hour and it heated back up any advise or solutions with this HELP!!!!!!

yep, had overheating problems that the dealer couldn't fix. Had it in there 4 times...They agreed via scanning with laptop that on one week long trip it got hot(engine lamp on) 14 times i think...Limp mode 4 or 5 times..They removed hoses, radiators, checked fan etc...In the end i had to return for another scan, as Sydney, Australia head office didn't have a clue and Can-Am Canada requested a new set of scans.....The end result............................they supplied me with a new RADIATOR CAP..lol lol. It hasn't overheated since, but i hadn't worked it as hard either....It wasn't losing water or anything. The fan just came on, stayed on and the rest is history.. It got a hard work out on the weekend without any problems... BUT i'm not sure if the cap fixed it or it was the Distilled water & 250ml of Water Wetter i put in the day before? Either way, the result was the right one...NO OVERHEATING any more!!!!:ban::ban:

p.s. What time of day and day is it over that part of the world?
It's 9.50p.m. Tuesday night here in Northern Australia!

IT has over heated all diffrent times of the day at night mid day and morning the worst one was at night and raining and a 65 degress weather go figure that one out. I am calling the dealer today in the morning and also Can Am customer service casue I did not spend so much money on a bike to have it at the dealer every week.

Mine has overheated a few times. Twice because of mud in the radiator. Once because most of it pissed out the weep hole.

Outside of that I never had a problem. I did switch to engine ice though. Hopefully this will make riding in the summer a little more bearable.

I'll go ahead and assume your coolant is full, fan works, radiator is clean. About the only thing left is the water pump itself.

My 800 has never overheated on me. But my buddy has  650 that overheated 45 times in 3 hrs one day. We were riding across open fields no mud or anything of that sort. Dealer told him to just keep the rad sprayed out with a garden hose. Hasnt done it since so I have he hasnt a clue as to what caused the problem nor does our dealer.

Welcome to the world of can am over heating issue, like one of the poster said check radiator fins be really carefull we had one guy power wash his machine and it bent all the fins on the radiator ever so slightly but we had to put in a new radiator, I had lots of problems with mine as well I finally bought a new radiator but to be honest I still think it runs to hot I have posted about this but everyone else seems to have the same thing these machines just run hot mine will typically run 210 215 all day I have a gauge I would check my radiator see if you can shine a flashlight through it you will have to take the fan off for this if your fins are bent its time for a new radiator

I am the expert at over heating. The first time it was the fuses in the back would vibrate out and thus the fan wouldn't come on. Second the rad was plugged with dirt etc. Tried to clean but as they said the power washer just bent the fins. Bought a new rad and it is plugged solid again. I have a rad prot on it which was approx 1" away from rad thus this caused the water not cleaning it. Now on the 3rd rad i will be watching it every trip out and making sure it is cleaned with a garden hose. I also have removed the rad prot as now winter should not have to worry about it. I also have a guage on mine and an over ride switch for the fan.. I put in some additive called blue ice and it keeps the temp down enough so that it doesn't go into limp mode. My guage read 240 deg before the warning light came on. The guage may not be accurate. Just my experances.

One thing I noticed on these things is that it doesn't like to trail ride slow. It gets real hot! It likes to idle more than anything. When idleing the temp goes way down. When we stop to drink a beer or something I don't shut it off normally becasue the hi temp light comes on after shut off. If i let it idle I can watch the temp on the guage go down .

Have been using this stuff in every big mud bike built yet..... U can have a throughly plugged rad and somehow the motor's don't overheat unless U say pulling two broken down machines behind U through skeg.

You need to put the sensor in the radiator hose coming from the engine to the top of the radiator.

MRCANAM you can get a gauge at any auto dealer autozone or pep boys I went to Lowes or home depot and got a T pipe fitting , Black pipe it was threaded so I could put the fitting in hose going to the radiator Top from engine like the other poster said

I cut the hose and put in the T I got the right size so I could just thread the heat sensor right in I also bought 2 little stuby 1-1/2 in long threaded ends for the T one side threaded goes into the T the other side no threads so you can fit into hose. The whole thing with gauge cost me 32 dollars I even hooked up the little back light that came with it so I can see it at night ...

PJMAXLTD07
I have seen other friends gauges read that high as well these things just run hot even when mine was brand new before I got any dirt in Rad the darn thing ran 215-220 I would love to be able to get temp down but it seems the thermostat or somehting in them wants the engine to run high we even hooked mine up to a car rad in the shop and let it run at idle and it ran same temp it just took it a lot longer to get there does anyone know if we can put in or remove thermostat????

HEY NBM I checked out that link wich product are you using in your radiator????
