I have seen that some people are using UNI air filters and some people are using K&N's.  But I have not seen any part numbers and results as in does it increase or hurt performance or is there no diff.  So the real question is what part numbers are you using?  I would also like to use a Pre-Filter what are suggestions for that?  My dealer would like to know what fits as well so that they can start stocking them.  Any help is appreciated.

I picked up the K&N RX-3820-1 FILTER and the RX-3820PK PRE- FILTER. If you use these, you will have to use something like electrical tape under it, cause it is just slightly larger. I delayed my install till I took my 800 out a couple times,  got the mileage and seen how it performed. Then I will swap and do the same with the K&N, and let everyone know how it did on my machine.

OSO: An easier way is to use that 3M black rubber auto trim mounting tape. It's sticky on both sides and about 1/16" thick. It as a green film on the back you peel off, comes in a roll, hardware or auto stores all have it.

Should only take about 2 layers, then cover the exposed sticky part with one wrap of vinyl electrical tape so the air cleaner hose won't be permanently glued to the inlet tube.

....enjoy.  :cold

OSO, what were the stock filter dimensions and the neck diameter?  I can't imagine that there isn't already a filter in production that won't fit without wrapping tape around the neck.  I could measure it myself but if you already have, that will save me taking mine apart.:sm:

Here we go again...:hp:

The RX-3820-1 is the closest size (2.438 I think) that has a velocity stack inside and also a top air intake in addition to the sides.

The neck was 2.25" if I recall. If you look on K&N's site under "universal" there is a 2.25" filter without the features of the 3820.

The 3820 leaves 1/8" on both ends of the diameter to size it upward.

Don't get your panties in a bunch there Turbo, I just asked for the dimensions so that I could do my own research on filters other than K&N.:tong:

A couple weeks ago I checked the air filter on my 800 Max XT at about 30 miles.  To my surprise I found a small film of dust had came through that junk stock air filter.  So, I recently bought a Uni "POD" FILTER" STRAIGHT / BLACK / URETHANE FLANGE (It's the one on the right).  The Uni part number is UP6229 it has a 2.25" ID and a 6" length.  The fit is perfect and also makes it a little easier to get the top of the air box off.  As you can see from the pic the clamp is a hose style, not that good so, I switched it and had better luck with the stock clamp from the stock filter.  So far so good.  Oh, obviously remember to oil it real well.

How does the Uni filter flow compared to a stock one?

What Pre-filter would you use with that UNI?

I found that uni on their website for about $16 but I could not find anything on a prefilter. Maybe these foam filters do not need a pre........

Here is the dual or pre-filter from the Uni site, I would have purchased it but I couldn't find it anywhere, so I went with the Uni pod filter straight black.  The part number for the dual is UP6229ST.  http://www.unifilter.com/clamp-on.htm.  I was told by a friend, who had an Arctic Cat that came with a filter similar to the stock Bomb filter, that he had nothing but trouble with it and that it lets way too much dirt through it.  Also if you oil the pre filter on the stock Bomb and the oil gets into the main element you end up with no air flow.

Looks like TwinAir has a filter for the 800.

http://www.atvproducttests.com/twinairfilterforbrp.htm

TwinAir's website doesn't list any filters for any BRP products so I emailed them.  Hopefully they can give us some info.

I know this is the wrong thread for the "clutch" subject but I wanted to pass this info along before I leave work.I spoke with Mike Penland on Wednesday 12/14 & he has a clutch kit in the works for the 800 outy.He said they should be ready by the end of January. I have talked with him before about the Brute Force,I had one before the BRP 800.I followed his suggestions for some hop-ups and they worked really well!If any one wants more info:1-706-746-2812!!
