Went for a ride on my 800 Canam and went to take a break. Turned off the key and the motor died, but the starter motor kept turning over. the camp sight. Bought a new solenoid, but does the same thing. Bought new starter and need some advice, pictures, assistance on what's the best way to get to, remove, and install the new starter. Thanks in advance for your help!

Starter should not spin if current is not being sent to it. Prob is most likely the switch as youve changed solenoid. That or a short in the wiring.

UPDATE........Well after 2 hours and my wife's assistance, I finally got the new starter installed. Guess What? Everything works again.....YEAH! Bottom Line, The solonoid went bad causing the starter to fry. New solonoid and new starter = riding time again. Anyone that has to replace your starter better be ready for some serious PATIENCE. You have to literally stand on your head, pray to the 4-wheeling gods, light candles, align all the planets and stars, and that's just to get the starter out....ha! ha! Wait until you try to reinstall it. Thanks to everyone for your assistance

Thanks for the info. I know the feeling, it's just better when you figger it out and do it yourself isn't it? (course you'll never be able to attempt anything again without the wifester asking if you can do it all by yourself Good job, welcome again.
