Prarie City OHV is located just outside of Rancho Cordova and Folsom CA, about 20 minutes east of Sacramento.  This is a very well developed riding area with multiple parking areas, flushing bathrooms, running water, numerous covered picnic tables and two unloading docks.  There is also the Mud Hut store which features drinks, snacks as well as riding gear, parts, air, oil etc.  Be forewarned though, the guy running that place will try to sell you ANYTHING the second you pick it up or touch it "nobody in Sac can beat our prices, they have more overhead" heard this a bunch of times LOL.

Prarie City is a multi use OHV park, it's only about 800 acres but features the Hangtown motocross track, midget Go Kart track as well as an off road truck/jeep/atv race track, mud hole/rock crawl area and an ATV safety training track/facility.  There are always multiple rangers on duty and they do check registration as well as your exhaust DB's, I have seen them make people leave.  This is a very popular place on the weekends and can become crowded but generally there's enough open space you don't have to worry about running into anyone.  There are a couple of rangers that are jerks and they will tell you to leave if you're hot dogging it in the parking area or being unsafe.

The riding areas are flat, rocky and dry for the most part, there are a few small hill climbs with numerous "trails" criss crossing the entire area.  There is an ATV "track" as well as a motocross "track" but you do not get access to the Hangtown track or the Jeep/truck/atv racing track, those are for special events but I think you can get a seperate membership to the Hangtown track.   In the winter and spring there are various ponds that eventually turn into mud holes before drying out in the summer.  The weather is hot and dry from June-Sept. with temps in the 90's-100 in July.  Very dry and limited vegitation.  It's a great place to get away for an afternoon or morning, you can cover the whole place in about an hour, but if you bring some friends and their kids you can BBQ and make a day of it.  They hold ATV races here in the spring and fall as well as jeep/truck races sponsored by VORRA.  There is a $6 day use fee per vehicle and closes at dusk.
