Foresthill OHV is located about 30 miles south/east of Auburn CA near Sugarpine resevoir off of Foresthill road, approx. 2 hr. drive from Sacramento off of interstate 80 take the Foresthill exit, you can stop at the ranger station in Foresthill for maps.

The staging area is very well developed with bathrooms, overnight camping and day use parking.  This riding area is VERY popular and can become quite crowded on the weekends during the late spring to early fall, if you plan on camping arrive very early on a Saturday or even on a Friday.  There are two unloadind docks.

This area is managed by the state so it's fairly well regulated, there are frequently rangers visible and they will check your DB levels as well as your registration.  This area is restricted to green sticker(4 strokes) only during the late spring to early fall months unlike Cow Mountain or Stonyford which are national forest and red sticker legal all year.  Weather is a little cooler but will still get fairly hot in July/August as well as VERY DUSTY, if there is no breeze there are places you have to really hold back from the rider ahead of you.

Trails are marked by numbers and colors however black diamond trails are restricted to dirtbikes only and are not accessible on an ATV they have the access points narrowed with barriers.   The vegitation is mostly deep forest pines, with a pretty heavy canopy.  There are a few small creek crossings most of which dry up by summer.  The trails in this area seem to change frequently because of rain in the winter, there are some spots they will either have to close or re-route because of heavy erosion.   There is a lot of red clay soil in this area so it can be a bear to clean and stains everything red, the black topsoil in some areas is what is eroding so badly.  My last trip there I had to literally hug the side of the hill because so much had eroded on one particular trail.

If you arrive early enough in the summer you can probably cover all of Foresthill's ATV trails in one day.  There are some pretty long dirtbike trails so here the ATV's get a little short changed but I don't think you could get down some of those trails on a quad anyway.   There are some unmarked trails and other roads we haven't ridden on much so there is more area available I just prefer to stay on the mapped trails.
