The Moose Walk and Red Dot trails are located in north east Minnesota between the towns of Beaver Bay, Silver Bay and Finland. The 50+ miles of trails are maintained by the Silver Trail Riders club out of Silver Bay.

The trails are pretty easy riding and are suitable for all riding abilities. This trail system twists and turns through tall pine and hardwood forests which is especially beautiful in the fall when the leaves are turning color.

Several scenic overlooks and trail shelters make great stops for a trail lunch. Some have views of Lake Superior.

Plenty of wildlife can be seen including moose. I have never personally seen one
there but have seen tracks almost every time. I have seen deer, rabbits and grouse.

The Red Dot trail leads right into the town of Silver Bay with access to gas, food and lodging. There ia also a campground right on the trail called Wildhurst Lodge.

This is a great place for a family to spend a day riding. We ride there at least a couple times a year.

An added note for out of staters, the bar and grill in finland has awsome prime rib, the best I have ever had. The bar is located on HWY 1 roughly a mile or two east of Finland. Very nice plase, we stop there every time we are in that area. I just wish I could remember the name of the place, but you cant miss it, its the only one there.

At the corner of HWY 1 and 61 is WHISPERING PINES motel, very nice rooms, very resonable rates and the people are realy friendly. We stay there almost every time we go up north. If you want to just explore when you are not rideing, it seems to be pretty much centraly located between Duluth and Canada and Ely. as a matter of fact, when we stay up there we go to either Ely or Lutesun for breakfast.
