I haven't posted on here for a long time, but just wanted to put a new updated review on my AC 500 I bought last winter...I've now got over 700 miles on it. I've done quite a bit of riding this past summer and fall, and have rode some other machines of buddies of mine also. I have a real good feel for the machine...so here are my thoughts on the 500 Cat.

Power - Pretty impressed with it since it is a heavy machine and only 500cc. I rode a new PoPo 800 last week, and realized I would love to have more power, but my 500 will hang with most in real world riding. For a 500, it does just fine.

Handling - This could be better, it's very stiff and abrupt, BUT it absorbs everyting it hits. Very stiff, but performs very well in rough terrain. Not as good on the trail as the PoPo or Outty ride, but a good rider can make it handle fine.

Reliability - Best out there IMO. My buddies are always doing something to their machines...I change oil and ride. I haven't had one single thing go wrong yet.

Work - also the best out there hands down. I use my 2" reciever hitch a lot. You can hook onto anything, and it will drag it away. Built very well. Racks are superior to anyting else by far, and have a ton of attachments available, which all work very well.

Mud - I haven't really done much mudding because we've been in a drought here most of the year, but last spring did some. 4x4 works awesome, and diff lock makes it next to impossible to get it stuck.

Summary - Overall very pleased with the machine, it has a lot of strong points, but there are a few things I wish were better...seat is uncomfortable compared to everyone else, wish ride was softer, but again it has 10" of travel and works well. Fuel injection would be nice. I'm going to buy some better tires and new rims this winter for looks and traction. Overall on a scale of 1-10, I would give it an 8. For what I do with it, it's a very good machine.
