My Outty 800 has become nearly impossible to shift into neutral lately.  The shifter wants to skip from "H" right to "R" and I can barely get it into neutral.  Does this sound like a clutch problem or a tranny issue?  Any suggestions/advice appreciated!

Try adjusting your shifting linkage.

I have a service manual ordered, but it hasn't come in yet.  I don't want to monkey with adjustments until I know what effect it's going to have.  Plus, I'm not sure it isn't a clutch issue caused by water and mud leaking from behind the CVT cover.  That might be gunking up the clutch and could be a factor.  Thanks for the advice though, I have lots of AmSoil and will be doing a change soon.

take the side covers off. make sure transmission is in neutral. look and make sure the shift lever is in neutral. if not adjust the linkage rod between the two  TAAADA.... if that and the amsoil doesn't do it .... well its dealer time

I might call the dealer anyway since my new plow is in and I have to go get it.  If they can look at it under warranty, I'll drop the 800 off when I pick up the plow.  Should be pretty sweet, it's yellow to match the Outty, and I ordered the electric power angle feature so I don't have to get off my lazy butt to angle the blade!

Just before Christmas, I swapped out the gearbox oil for Royal Purple Synchromax, dumped Royal Purple 5W-30 in the motor, added Royal Purple 'Purple Ice' to the radiator and Royal Purple Maxgear in the diff's.  The shifting trouble has disappeared, and the motor seems to run cooler (fan runs less).  The stuff is expensive, but it made a HUGE difference with the shifting.
