I do think it is time to get every Outlander rider on the web to start e-mailing Bombardier with this complaint.

The frame is too prone to damage to be selling these quads without skidplate protection. It is ridiculous to have to spend extra money to get the basic protection that should have been there from the beginning. The radiator protector they sell should be factory installed also.

It's too late for those of us who already have our new Outlander, but they need to fix this problem anyway.

I agree with you whole hearted.  Here are a couple of e-mail addresses one is the CEO of BRP.     pierre.pichette@brp.com    and   jeff.downs@brp.com

:thm: Thanks for those email addresses.
I hit my frame the first ride out then I bought the Bomb front plates and still was nervous so I took those off and now installed the Ricochet full kit and they are awesome and as far as price :2cent: . I could have done with out spending more money but...
I think they might hear from me.

Here is a shot of my Outty after only 270 miles of "normal" trails in WV.  Thank God (and Ricochet) for Under Armour!

Here is yet another shot.  No doubt that I would have had serious A-Arm damage if not protected.  Get your skid plates dudes, and consider a better suspension as well!

i forget the real name, poly-something.  The plastic distributing place people call it puck board as a slang i guess,or its possibly the stuff they use at hockey rinks around the edge of the ice.

pretty sure its the same stuff PERFEX uses. Cost $90 (CAN) for a 4x8 sheet , 1/4" thick

Do you just heat it to bend it?

Can you get a part number for that 4x8 sheet?

i got a small metal bending brake i used 4 bending. Didn't seem to make any diff if i heated it or not, just bend a bit farther than u want and it springs back a little.VERY EASY to work with. Jig saw & hole saw & some "L" shaped brackets to hook onto existing bolts.Used carridge bolts (1" ish or so).Kinda time consuming but there weren't any skids available when i made mine.Only thing, could be thicker at front nose where the richochets are doubled up. Should find a way 2 double these up also, or put a layer of something extra there.I'll try 2 get a # tuesday if u want.Got from gepolymers.com here in dartmouth,n.s. but they're in the states too.

What are the best skidplates for riding on muskeg, I'm no worried so much about rock imnpacts but instead reducing friction when "on the bog".

If you want slippery, I would go with poly skids from Perfex.
