I don't know if they still have it or not, but Babbit used to have a water skipping contest during Peter Mitchell days. Which was either in July or August. They would take off from the boat landing, go out around an island and come back. Had to have been over a half mile out and back. They would make turns and everything. You would see lots of guys sink the machine, get it back to shore, drain it out and go again. In theory if you shut if off early you will be fine, however there were a few that seized up after they tried for round two. Fun to watch though.
