Got a chance on a 2003 Legend V1000 with only 540 miles. Question....I know these aren't the torquiest but are they really dogs? I read that they will hit 90 and pull like a 500 liquid.....I could handle that...and that it gets about 22mpg.....but heavy at 570...?????...any help would be appreciated, this is at a good price

As I'm sure you are aware this is a touring sled with a short track.Really good for hardpack trail riding or frozen lake riding.Although it is very heavy that 1000cc 4 stroke is a good motor. That being said,I doubt it will hit 90mph but you will not be unhappy with the power.

My suggestion would be to do a compression test prior to purchase.

I found a few more forums  where they said about 80-85 top end but that is Ok with me. A trail sled is what I need. We have an outstanding groomed trail system in N Minnesota. I may check out this sled a little more. At my age I'm not into speed as much as comfort

With the way they are making sleds these days, a 500 is fast enough for almost anybody unless you are doing straight line drags on lakes. The only 4 stroke sled I have drove is a Yami RX-1. I know that they are not really in the same class, but that thing had ton's of power. Heavier than an elephant though...

Have you tried Doo Talk.com

Great forum for anything relating to ski doo sleds.

The speed limit is 50 so you're good to go(you never speed, do you?:tg:). I also recommend DooTalk.com.

If the price is right go for it. It should be cheaper to run since you don't have to buy oil and premium gas and a four stroke is alot more forgiving than a 2 stroke. Remember I burned one of my cylinders within 5 minutes of my first ride last year, had it been a four stroke I'm sure that wouldn't have happened! If I could get a Renegade chasis with a four stroke comparable to one of Yami's it would be perfect!

You're right about the trails up there they are kick ass.

Well i just talked with my banker and it seems they would rather I traded in on a new sled instead of a used one???? Go figure. Anyway now I am looking at a basic 06 or 07 MXZ fan cooled 550 or maybe even (god forbid J/K) a Polaris....not sure but whatever I get needs to have reverse

Go with the 550 Ski-Doo rev they ride much better than the Po. the po. is nice but the rider foward position is the way to go on the rev. Ive rode my rev for 3 years now and what a nice ride. Took a trip 2 years ago with my buddys they all ride polaris so I let two of them ride my 800 rev and the next year they had new revs. I think all the new revs come stantard with reverse now. Go Ski-Doo

The MXZ will ride way better than the polaris will. The RER reverse is also a nice feature. I don't know much about the newer polaris motors, so I can't comment on that, but the ride between the two will go to the Doo. With the polaris you will have a dealer much closer. If we had any snow I would let you ride my REV so you could get a feel for that chassis, but I don't think that is going to happen by tomarrow. lol.

To be honest, I don't know. I have the 600HO liquid motor, and it is plenty fast.

I will have to sit on one of those doos and see if it feels right with my long legs.....I'm sure the 550 is fast enough but I wonder about durability........

Well this should prove that I'm not brand loyal. I have a brand new red and white Polaris XC 600 SP. The price was just too good to be true......sweet sled too. Now to build some type of ramps/platform for my truck

Thanks. I have it here, just trying to figure out how to get it off my truck LOL. Everyone says just grab it and yank it out, let if fall to the ground ...YIKES!

Zac I went through Duluth Lawn and Sport. Great trade price on my 400 Outty, Great price on the sled, they seem to be an alright place but of course time will tell.

Ive pulled selds out of trucks and let them drop many times but never a new one on dry pavement. That could turn into a stupid human trick lol.

If ya have two extra guys handy just have each one grab the trailing arm on each side and you grab the back, should be able to set her down easy. I do that sometimes instead of using my trailer. Congrats on the sled by the way.:thumb2:
