This is scary!!
here is a photo of a cougar killed in steeleville, mo.   the guy who shot it is 6 foot tall and weighs about 220 lbs.  he was in a deer stand and saw the cat pass him downwind.  he then saw it pass him upwind.  when the cat passed him again (closer this time) downwind, he knew that it was hunting him.  so,  boom.

after viewing this, do you still feel safe in the woods?

I have seen this photo posted many places. The most recent "kill" location was near my hometown in MN.

It is huge I just would like to know where it really was taken.

My guess is that it was taken in a photo shop session. I have received that one about 5 times over the past few years. Notice how the skin on it's shoulder above the man's left forearm is not contorted or bunched up at all. You try lifting 200#'s of dead weight and see if the hide stays that smooth. I call shinanigan's!

At first I thought someone played with the pic in photoshop. Not sure if it's a fake or not, I'm thinking it is.

I had a quick look on the net and can't find a cougar even close to that size.

The cat was probably drinking out of the same watering hole as the bunny from this tread.

I beleive the picture. Why would anybody lie on the computer? That sort of thing is unheard of. I went to snopes.com and they do have a large mountain lion story there that they say is true. Don't know if it is the same cat or not.

200+ pound mountain lions are a little rare in my neck of the woods, but they are around. They are getting quite bold with people, last year a big cat attacked a guy on a dirtbike at Ballinger canyon riding area.

I saw the snopes one on a WV website. Made me a little nervous. I hope it was killed in AZ.

Must be different kitties if zac41 has been seeing the first image for years. The snopes kitty has only been dead a few months.

There are a lot of cats around here... Just no body sees them... U have to go down to the river and look for tracks. They follow the water runs looking for prey. Crazy thing, a while ago I was out hunting geese by the Fort a La Corne area and saw cat tracks on my side of the river... Two minutes later I saw a :pod:ing cougar across the river slinking along the shore. Put the hair on my neck up instantly as I know a cat wouldn't cross a 100 ft wide 15 ft deep flowing river for fun! Which meant that there was a t least two in the area. And all I had was a shotty!

Two years ago my neighbor came out of his bathroom, walked down the hallway and saw a cougar looking through his screen door at his dog lying on the couch. The cat was right on his deck!!! That's freaky.
Typically you can't even turn around without seeing a deer out there, but odd time I go out there the deer are nowhere to be seen. The neighbors say that's when a cougar is in the area. I am a city boy and don't hunt but it makes sence.

But the cougar is a heck of a lot more interesting and until it's demise, more intelligent.
