Hunters who buy deer licenses early avoid delays caused by an overloaded electronic license sales system and relieve last-minute demand on retail businesses that sell licenses.
That's the message from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) as the 2005 firearms deer season approaches. Licenses for the firearms deer season, which begins Nov. 5, are available now at 1,800 businesses across the state.
"We hunters think of so many things before the season such as getting our gear ready, sighting in our rifles, even hanging our blaze orange out to air," said John Guenther, director of the DNR Division of Fish and Wildlife. "Buying a license early is a great way to start the season and help businesses who sell licenses."
Deer hunting licenses are required for resident and nonresident hunters age 12 and older. Deer licenses are also available online at http://www.dnr.state.mn.us or by phone at: 1-888-665-4236 (1-MN-LICENSE). There is $3.50 convenience fee for telephone or online purchases and hunters receive their deer tags by mail.[code]
