I been thinking of packing my Coleman Duel Fuel Single Burner Camping stove in my trunk box to be able to make hot coffee or soup out on the trail. MY  only Concern is having something like that packed inside my box were a spill could occur or fumes could build up causing a fire or worse....

Anyone have expereince with this?

I carry it in my Jeep all the time but thats a little bit bigger than an ATV trunk box.

Looks like this....

It shouldn't spill but if you are worried about that, just use propane

I'd be concerned about fumes going out, if you're using plastic trunk boxes- it'll give off friction or scatic electricity and it'll blow. It often happens with gasoline cans in truck boxes with liners.

I thought about carrieng the fuels in a seperate bottle.  The backpackers use those aluminum fuel bottles that don't leak are light and compacxt......that way it will be a little more secure.....

I have had those propane bottles leak in camper....once you break the seal somtimes they dont seal all the way.....:cents:

After thinking about this some more a light bulb went on.:whs:

My stove is duel fuel.....I can use regular gasoine in it.....I don't need to carry fuel in the trunk box. I can bring one of my Kolpin fuel pack Jrs along and then just dump the unused fuel back or  worse case syphon a little gas out of my tank.

Problem solved:thm: Thanks

Have you guys seen this stove? I found it by accident when looking for something else.

From their website:

Heat, eat, and drink from this ultra-compact 1 liter unit. Ideal for coffee or tea on the go, dehydrated meals, remote worksites, emergency kits.
Jetboil PCS – the original Jetboil – has sparked a revolution in outdoor cooking. Boiling two cups in two minutes at 75-80% efficiency, the PCS is twice as fast and uses half as much fuel as conventional stoves. The PCS boils up to 50 cups (12 Liters) of water from only one Jetpower isobutane/propane micro-canister. Such outstanding performance results from the patent-pending FluxRing™ heat exchanger, which captures and focuses the burner’s heat.
The PCS integrates a 1 liter insulated hard-anodized aluminum cooking cup, high-performance burner base with built-in piezoelectric igniter, drink-through plastic lid, and protective bottom cover that doubles as a measuring cup. With all components, including fuel, packed comfortably within the cooking cup, the entire PCS is smaller than a Nalgene bottle. Stow it in your pack, saddle bag, kayak, fanny pack, or side pocket – take it anywhere. At 15 ounces, Jetboil PCS rivals the very lightest titanium cooksets and micro-canister stoves.
Jetboil’s line of accessories allows you to personalize your PCS: turn it into a backcountry French press, add companion cups, or adapt it for use with the new 1.5 liter FluxRing pot or conventional cookware.
“Jetboil represents a total rethink of backcountry cookery.” – Outside Buyer’s Guide, 2004
“Our other canister stove had sputtered to a halt in the cold, windy weather, but Jetboil was cranking out hot drinks faster than we could down them.” – Backpacker Magazine, April 2004

Looks cool... a little spendy.....

My Coleman stove was $34 at Wallyworld. I use my canteen and mess kit from the service and I am good to go. plus no dedicated fuel canisters....

I do like how it all stores into the cup....if space was at a real premium I would consider it.

I have a stainless still stove with a grate and  blow tube  burns trigs or charcoal [like 3-4 pieces  compact lite find fuel anywheres  boils water nicely  + more

I'll post a pic later its out in the camper I have some stainless steel ductwork  we could make these  but i thin i paid about $30 including S/H
Maybe we could have a ride/make stove day here at the ranch[I'll run it by Teach] I have all the sheet metal toools  someone would need to provide say 3'x3' highgrade[stainless]expanded metal  and  metal tubing  about 5/8 od   that could be cut into 2" pieces and maybe threaded  1 "

post pics later

The Ranch is 2 miles from the real start of the Soo Line  Royalton Area
