Anyone besides me remember when...

Winchester 94 30-30's were $69.00. Ruger auto .22 pistols were $37.50. Ruger Single-Six .22's were $57.50. Browning Auto 5's Light weight with vent rib was $155.00. Jack O'Conner was the guns editor at Outdoor Life magazine. Elmer Keith was the gun editor at Field & Stream. Scott-Attwater and Martin made small outboards. StarCraft 12' aluminum car tops were $99.00.

Gasoline got as low as $.299 during price wars. 1972 Datsun 1200 coupes were $1715, full price. New '67 Corvettes were $5200. 289 Cobras were $5950 off the dealer floor.

Those were the good old days. Hadn't thought about that stuff for a long time. Brings back a wave of pleasant memories.

Turbo- I am a little younger than that(26),but just think that whole list you put there would be covered by your signature line for your 800 max xt. Things have definitely changed.

I guess you remember the gas lines back in the 70's. Odd/even days. Still had to wait in long lines when your day came. My hourly wage in 1975 was $2.35. By the time I retired 30 years later, the wage for the same job was $14.25. Times have changed.

Cheapest I remember buying gas was .39 cents a gallon, smokes were the  same .39 cents.

I'm told if you figure in the cost of living and inflation the $4.00 a gallon gas is a bargain.

Hmmm.......Gas $4...smokes $4...maybe it's true:shrug:

Coincidence? I was stationed for 8 weeks at Lackland AFB for Army MP sentry dog training in March & April 1962. We took a bus into San Antonio on weekends. Might have even passed you on the street. Small world.

Keep healthy and ride safe.

:wh:You got there while I was still in H.S. I spent my entire military time there from 9-66 til 8-68 Used to drive a triple a wrecker while off duty and got to know the city fairly well. Had a 55 Nomad I used to beat the GTO's with red light to red light. It sure hooked up good. 327 Holley and headers and 4 speed. those were the days!!:dan:
