I've been atving since 1994.  I live in NE  ND.  We go to Walhalla area quite often.   Would be interested in riding in Minnesota sometime.  Don't exactly know where to go & don't know the rules. I bought a new 650 Outlander in 2006.  Love it. Also have a 2001 Polaris 500 and a 1995 polaris 400 which I use for pushing snow.

Thanks, OdieDawg.

This is a very interesting site. I spent 2-3 hours just looking at the pics & learning to navigate the site.

hey, I just got a 650xt a few months ago and live in Grand Forks, have you found any decent places to ride up around where you are at?  I went to Pembina last years, they had some signs saying that you coiuldn't ride atv's on some of the trails, so I didn't venture down those.  It was still a decent little ride though.  Next time I am gonna take my GPS up there and try to map out some of the trails..  Have a good one!!

yandawg,

There are not very many places, where I am, to ride, so I go to Walhalla. When you said Pembina, did you mean Pembina Gorge?  Which is West of Walhalla.   That's where I go when I go for the day.  There are places to ride there, but you should go to the west side of the river.   There's a farmer that lives just east of Frostfire ski lodge that owns some land east of the river & north that doesn't like atv'ers.  He has put up gates and fences and sits and watches to make sure that no atvers get by his place.  It's hard to explain where we go, but we go west of Frostfire about 5 miles and go north 7-8 miles.  Probably more miles than that.  We end up about 1/2 mile inside the US border.  There are trails galore there.  If it's after a rain or snow,  it's gets extremely muddy, so you will definitely need a winch or some else with to pull you.  A year & half ago we were up there( 5 of us) and we had four wheelers stuck at the same time.  It was an exhausting afternoon, but really lots of fun.

Excellent directions!!  I will have to try that out this summer.  I went to Agassiz trail in Minnesota, all it had was about 30-40 miles of STRAIT flat areas, where the railroad tracks used to be, and 2 little river crossings.  It took about 2 and a half hours to get there.  I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Heyyy, I'm thinking of going up to Pembina on Friday, is there any easy way to tell where I should stop and unload the four wheeler? I know previously you had said --It's hard to explain where we go, but we go west of Frostfire about 5 miles and go north 7-8 miles.  Just wondering if there is any way of telling where to start wheeling....

Thanks again for your time!!!!

Yandawg,

Thge directions are approximate.

It's difficult to explain, but after going about 5 miles past Frostfire, you come to a county building(sits by itself) that says Vang on it. You can read  it from the road as you drive by.  The road turns to pavement.  Keep going straight another 3 miles and turn right.  Go 4 miles north and then west again.  You should go past a church about 3 miles then go north again about 3 miles and turn east 3/4 mile. There should be a farm place there.  Turn left and go across his field.  There is a dirt road to follow.(about a mile). You will come to the trees and the road goes down the valley to Pembina Gorge.  We unload at the top and drive the wheelers down there.  You will see trails all over the place.  Be careful not to go over the Candian border because you will be right beside the border.   You can see it by the trees that are grubbed out in a straight line east & west.  ATV trails don't go across the border.

If I didn't have to go to a funeral in Fargo,  I'd go with and show you.  Maybe another day we could get together.

I hope that gets you there.  I know you will be close.  The first time I went, I had to stop and ask farmers how to get there, so it was an exploring trip.  We ended up in Maida, which is the border crossing north of Langdon.  Ha. Ha.

There are no roads across the border except at the border crossings, so don't worry about going across with your vehicle.  The gravel roads just come to an end when it gets close to the border.

Good luck!!  See ya sometime.    Panda
