New laws affect off-highway vehicle operators (2005-10-25)

A number of changes enacted by the 2005 Minnesota Legislature regulating off-highway vehicles (including all-terrain vehicles, off-highway motorcycles and 4x4 trucks) will affect those who own or operate them in Minnesota. It is important that riders take a moment to review these changes before heading out, according to the Department of Natural Resources officials, because many of these new provisions went into effect July 1.

What do you think of the new "no snorkle" law in MN?

I think it's stupid. We already have a law against going into wetlands, which these days consists of a puddle in your yard after a heavy rain if it lasts more than 3 days. I just think it's there so they can hand out more tickets. If people are going to go into a wetland or lake or stream they will do it whether they are snorkeled or not.:2cent:

With that said, I will probably never have a snorkel, I don't ride in areas that would require one, but I don't think you should'nt be able to have one. Like I said before, what happens when someone rides in the atv park and then wants to ride the area trails, now they have to take apart their machine to enjoy the trails and that will ultimately piss people off and they won't come here to ride. What do you think about it Outlandish?

The no snorkel is kind of foolish. It should be common sense that some people will break the law no matter what you do. I am completely for preserving wetlands, but just making it illegal to have a snorkel is not going to keep some people out of them. It is kind of like making vehicles that go 100+ mph and expecting everyone to stay at the 55mph speed limit. Most will do it, but obviously some will not.
