I hope this isn't a repost, saw it on another site.

Do you love Tellico? Apparently Cabelas does not, or any other 4x4/ATV trail for that matter!

E-mail them and tell them what you think!

This was sent to me today:

The following was emailed to Cabela's Customer Service this AM. Urge everyone to do same. Check the TU corporate sponsorhip site and hit every one on the list.

I have been a longtime customer of Cabela's. My vehicle right now has Cabela's seat covers on it, proudly proclaiming the Cabela's name. Now I discover that Cabela's is supporting Trout Unlimited as a corporate sponsor (according to the TU website). TU is trying to sue the USFS into closing the OHV trails at Tellico, NC in the Nantahala National Forest.

Cabela's needs to tell TU that unless it drops its support for trying to close me out of my own National Forest, the 4X4 and ATV community will begin its boycott of Cabelas. From this point forward, my Cabela's seat covers in my truck will have the Cabela's name removed, and I will not purchase anything else from Cabela's until they publicly denounce the actions of Trout Unlimited.

The only thing these Philadelphia lawyers understand is $$. So lets start putting it in terms of $$ for them. Someone needs to stir this on the ATV sites - Cabela's sells LOTS of ATV stuff.

My email:

I represent an online ATV forum of over 4000 members. It has come to our attention that one of your corporate sponsors, Trout Unlimited is trying to sue the USFS into closing the OHV trails at Tellico, NC in the Nantahala National Forest.
The vast majority of us do not feel good about supporting companies that in turn support causes like this. You may want to consider dropping your support for companies that want to shut us ATV'ers out.

Thank you,
Don Driscoll

Dear Don:

Thank you for contacting Cabela’s regarding our support of conservation and advocacy groups. This support includes conservation organizations such as Trout Unlimited, as well as advocacy groups like Tread Lightly, which states as its mission “to proactively protect recreation access and opportunities in the outdoors.”

As a retailer focused on the outdoors and outdoor sports, it’s our policy to support the organizations that protect our outdoor heritage, a heritage that includes, among many other passions, both trout fishing and responsibly enjoying off-highway vehicles. We provide backing for these and other organizations to ensure the pastimes our customers – and we – enjoy are protected.

Because of customers’ concerns regarding the Tellico/Nantahala access issue, we’ve been in contact with both TU and our friends at Tread Lightly and other OHV organizations, encouraging all parties to come to an agreement that protects the watershed while providing responsible access for OHV enthusiasts such as yourself.

Again, we appreciate you contacting us to voice your concerns and thank you for your continued business. We look forward to serving your outdoor recreation needs for many years to come.

If you need anything else please let us know. Have a great day!

Sincerely,

Mitzi

Love me some Bass Pro. I have one 20 minutes from the house. Talk about sportin' some wood. :dan: Gander is OK, got one of them nearby too but just doesn't have the same feel.

Never bought a thing from Cabelas and don't see a reason to now.:frown

I read the reply as a blow-off. Especially coming from................Mitzi. (how cute is that).

When you get a reponse from a Cabela, you'll know that they have at least, read it.

Well Melanie responded to me. Anymore suggestions?

The purpose of this e-mail is to voice my dis-satisfaction with Cabella's support for the closure of the the Tellico OHV trails. As I am sure you know, many trails are being closed and many more are being looked at very closely for closure. The ATV community has supported Cabella's for years and in return, respectfully ask that you take a closer look at your corporate strategy. Many in the ATV community also hunt, fish, ski etc. and shop at Cabella's for all of their outdoor needs. Dis-satisfaction with your stance regarding this subject is spreading quickly within the ATV community and if you can not support our sport, many will find other places that will support us and in turn we will support them for all of our outdoor needs. Thank you for your time and I am looking forward to your response.
