Reno police seek cold-hearted thieves who took charity's ATV

Thanks in part to poor parking skills, Reno police have some new leads in the search for the cold-hearted thieves who made off with an ATV and trailer intended as the grand prize in a raffle for children's charities.

The crooks stole the $12,000 arctic cat and its trailer early Wednesday morning from a sporting goods store parking lot where it was on display for a local dairy's annual charity fishing derby.

The trailer, with some fresh fingerprints, was found at a Reno apartment building later in the day after a woman saw two men dumping it in the building's parking lot.

Model Dairy's Derek Allbee says the trailer was blocking the woman's parking space so she called Reno police.

Unfortunately, that was before company officials had reported the ATV stolen to police so the officers told the woman to have her landlord remove the trailer.

But before she could, the suspects returned to the scene.

Allbee says the fellows who abandoned the trailer actually came back a second time and pushed it farther off the street to try to hide it.

That allowed the woman to get a better description of the two white males in their thirties, both dressed in gray, mechanic-like coveralls.

Last year, the charity event raised $100,000 for the make a wish foundation and others.

Allbee says, quoting now, "everyone is just dumbfounded as to who could be so low to take from children."

I hope one way or another these two get theirs.  You know what, keep the atv.  I hope you go head first into a tree.
