I'm thinking of giving 10" rear wheels with 22x11-10 Maxxis Razr (or Razr2 - not sure yet) tires a try on my Renegade for high speed trail riding (less unsprung weight...) . I have my gearbox at the machine shop now to get the main gearing beeing changed up 18% so this will compensate for the smaller tire diameter.... (and the DiamondG Engine Kit - pistons, cams, heads) will give the additional power...). Fronts will stay 12" (break clearance) with 23" tires The main problem now is finding a 10" rim which fits the rear of the Renegade: There's a 10x7 4/137 rim with a 4+3 offset available from Douglas. What do you think? Will 11" wide tires fit on a 7" wide rim? Or would it be better to buy a 10x8 3+5 and mount it inside out? Any opinions on this? Maybe someone tried this out before... Thanks from Germany Andy

The 10" wheel is going to hit the trailing arm if you don't use one with more offset than stock. The 10x8 mounted the normal way (3+5) MIGHT have enough clearance. You will have to try it to see. You are also going to end up with what I call below ground suspension travel. A stock Renegade has something like 10" of suspension travel and 11" of ground clearance. Put on a set of tires that are 3" shorter than stock and you are going to have 10" of suspension travel and 9.5" of ground clearance. Not a good thing. Here is a pic of a 10" rim on the back of my outy, you do have to run them with the 3 back 5 out, the normal direction for the very reason mentioned they won't clear the trailing arms if reversed.

@DesertViper, yes I already thought about this GC problem - but this won't really hurt me as I only wanna use the 22" for (more or less) flat surfaces, so it won't come to the need of using the whole wheel travel. @CC1999: Thanks for the pics - Mounting the 10x8 3 back / 5 out will definitely be much too wide and will put too much stress on the bearings I think. What about the 10x7 solution? Makes 4 back / 3 out - but as mentioned above I'm not sure if the rim is wide enough to mount a 11" wide tire... If the 10 inch rims will not work at all I may give the Carlisle ACTs (23x7R12/23x10R12) a try on stock rims... If you are primarily trying to get a lighter tire for better performance, take a look at the Maxxis 4-speed tires. They are 25" so you can use stock wheels and not worry about ground clearance, but they are much lighter than the OEM ITP Holeshot ATRs.

I have a set of 22" for my outlander. They are 6ply holeshots with 10" baja rims. I have 1 inch wheel spacers that change the bolt pattern to fit the 10" rims. I've got one 30 mile ride on them and would be willing to sell them if interested. ridgerunnerseoinc@yahoo.com
