World’s Longest ATV Parade

In 2008, the All-Terrain Vehicle Association of Minnesota
(ATVAM) will have reached a milestone by celebrating its
25th Anniversary and one of the events planned to mark this
accomplishment will take place June 14th in Silver Bay MN
as ATVAM attempts to break the record for the World’s
Longest ATV Parade.  Currently, Kentucky holds the record
at 1,138 ATV’s in a parade.

The parade committee met with the City of Silver Bay, local
businesses and the Silver Trail Riders ATV club in October.
The committee was welcomed with open arms and the city of
Silver Bay is very excited that the parade will be held in
their community.  Besides the fabulous ATV and Snowmobile
trail systems, it is a place that showcases the beauty that
Minnesota is known for all up and down the famous North
Shore Drive.

Since the announcement was made at the 2007 ATVAM Fall
Convention in September, resort and motel owners in the
area have stated that several ATV riders have already
booked rooms for the ATV parade so I encourage you to make
your reservations early. Here are a few of the motels and
resorts in the Silver Bay area:  Wildhurst Lodge &
Campground 218-353-7337, Whispering Pines Motel
800-332-0531, and the AmericInn 877-254-1827.  A full list
of motels and camp grounds in the area can be found at
http://www.atvparade.org or http://www.atvparade.com.

To register for the parade, visit the two websites listed
above or http://www.atvam.org.  The registration fee is $12.00 per
ATV.

PRE-REGISTER BY MAY 9, 2008 AND RECEIVE ONE MEMORABILIA

T-SHIRT OF THE EVENT.

This event will also be a memorial for CJ Ramstad who was
the owner of MSPN and editor and publisher of Minnesota
Off-road.  He and his son JJ died in an auto accident in
May 2007.

Thank you for your support of ATVing in Minnesota!

That would be cool to be a part of history. It's kind of a ways off, but I hope that I can make it.

It would be cool if we had a large group of us from the board showing up to help support it.

I'm seriously thinking about going and trying to get some other people from Wisconsin to come along. I think it will be a blast.

Update on ATV Parade Feb 2008

Hi Everybody

The ATV Parade Committee would like to give you a quick update.  In talking to people around the state, we hear a lot of excitement so you have been doing a good job in getting the word out and we thank you for that.

We would like to let everybody know that there is ample parking.  We will be able to use the city streets for parking then get on the trail and ride out to the staging area of the parade. There are several dirt roads that lead off from the staging area that we are going to use and we have access to several parking lots around town so again there is going to be enough parking for everybody.

The parade route is going to be a designated ATV trail for the day so kids can participate as long as they meet MN State requirements for riding on trails.

Side x Sides will not count towards our numbers according to Guinness Book of World Records but will be allowed in the parade.

We have attached some posters and we would like your help in putting this out to the dealers and any place else you think they should go.
Please forward the poster to your club members for help with distribution.

The schedule for the event is as follows:

Friday June 13, 2008
6:00 – 9:00PM Registration

Saturday June 14, 2008
8:00AM Registration
8:00AM Staging for Parade (please come early so we have time to setup the ATV’s)
11:15AM ATV Parade
3:00 – 6:00PM All you can eat buffet for $10.00 a person at the Union Hall provided by Zup’s of Silver Bay
7:00 – 9:00PM Famous ATVAM auction
9:00 – 12:00PM Dance to the “Northern Lights” 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s

Please bring a canned good or staple item to donate to the Silver Bay food bank.  We will be collecting them at the parade site.

Also if you have an antique 3 wheeler or 4 wheeler that you would like to display for us to enjoy please bring them.
[size= ]

The committee is looking for help if you are interested in helping please contact me at
les-deb@cableone.net  or 701-371-2855.
[size= ]
Thank you,
Les Schermerhorn and the ATV Parade Committee

You would think that Polaris or AC would sponsor, being in MN.
