The DNR North Shore Subsection Forest Resource Management Plan (SFRMP) Team has completed the draft 10-Year Stand Selection Results and New Access Needs document for the North Shore Highlands, Toimi Uplands, and Laurentian Uplands subsections.  The SFRMP is a 10-year management plan for state-administered forest lands in these subsections. This step in the planning process includes: a summary of the stand selection results; a complete list of stands that will be field visited and potentially treated over the 10-year planning period; a summary of new access needs; revisions to the Strategic Direction Document; and responses to public comments from the Strategic Direction Document review.  The draft document has gone through department review and has been approved for release to the public for review and comment during the July 5–August 4 public review period.

The Stand Selection Results and New Access Needs document is available for review in three formats (beginning June 30th):

·       DNR Web site: http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/forestry/subsection/northshorearea

·       Paper copy (326 pages)

·       CD copy

Requests for a paper or CD copy of the plan, questions, or comments can be submitted via email to gaylord.paulson@dnr.state.mn.us, mailed to Gaylord Paulson, DNR-Division of Forestry, 500 Lafayette Road, St. Paul, MN 55155-4044, faxed to 651-296-5954, or call 651-259-5280.

In addition, the specific location and information about individual stands selected for possible treatment can be viewed at: http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/maps/forestview/index.html.  Comments about individual stands can be submitted through this website application.

Comments will be accepted on this step of the draft plan through August 4, 2006
