Well, the donor car idea didn't work out....

So, I'm back to looking for parts. I'm gonna look at a pair of iron 429 D0VE-C heads next week...

If I buy them, then I can bring them in with the block to have them ported, squared, new valves and springs installed, etc...

Just bought the D0VE-C heads tonight...they are off of a 1970s Lincoln with a 429 V8.

The guy that sold them to me said that he also knows somebody who has three Ford 9-inch axles at his house, and he would probably sell one to me for $100.:ban:

But I should probably find a 48' F-1 before I start looking for axles.:)

Well, now that I got the block and the heads, it's time for the engine shop this weekend. $$$$$$ LOL

I wiped the rest of the oil off the block, and removed the crankshaft, tonight...

That crank has to be 80 pounds by itself.:omg:

Haven't had anybody call about the stock 460 parts, yet.:pu:

While the engine is in the shop for the next few weeks, I should buy the air intake, timing and timing cover, spark plugs, and oil pump and oil pan, so I can seal up the motor once I get it back home. I also need to have Sr. clean and blast the valve covers so they can be painted. I also need to find a transmission shop that can upgrade the C6, or buy my C6, and sell me one that is already built.

Once we find a 1948 F-1, Sr. and I are going to make a custom fully-boxed rectangular frame that will use either Crown Victoria, or F-150 front suspension parts and spindles, and a 9-inch Ford for the rear axle. The frame will also be painted in a heavy-duty industrial primer and paint that Sr. has access to at his work.

We'll start with these things, and then see if there is an money left over for the exterior/interior. LOL:)

Thanks Outlandish...When I called the engine shop, they said that they would probably make the compression around 10.5 : 1, so it would run on premium gasoline (91 to 93 octane). $$$$$

I might go look at a 1946 Ford pickup next weekend...body looks like it's in really good shape... barely any rust or dents.:ban:

What a restored 46' Ford looks like:

4x4.....8-inch Skyjacker lift kit<<<<<might lower it a little bit to make it more driveable, or maybe not....35-inch Gumbo Monster Mudders (14 inches wide)...Dana 44 front, Dana 60 rear (probably will put a detroit locker in it)...

I'm thinking about having it painted silver, with red and black interior.....4-speaker stereo...probably will put a tinted, sliding back window in it...thinking about using Cherrybomb glasspacks for the dual exhaust (pipes will be out the sides, in front of the rear tires) ...

A Highboy in great shape would be a killer ride. Have always wanted one since mudding in a brand new '76. I have '76 that I've considered converting to 4x4. Maybe someday? Sure sounds like a stout motor your building.
