Bought a new chevy pickup today.  First non-Japanese vehicle for me in over 25 years.  (does that make me a bad American?)

I test drove them all in the past week, and the Chevy really was better than the Jap vehicles as far as I could tell...........:cents:

Honestly I don't think think that any of them are made in anywhere less than 5 different countries anymore. Sad to say but hardly anything is solely made in america anymore.

Bad, bad, bad, go to your corner. :)

I made the switch back to U.S. made(mostly) in 03 with a Dodge/Cummins, been looking at Chevy's myself lately, but I kinda like having no truck payments.

I have a '05 Tacoma but a work truck it is not.  Loaded down the ride is horrible and the gas mileage dips.

I think the domestic vehicles are getting better.  They need to to be competitive.  If I were looking for a full-sized I would definetly look at the Silverado.  It may have a few more quirks than Toyota, but at the price difference, you could fix them and still have money left over.  I also think, based on my father's Silverado, gas mileage will be better.  With the 5.3 extended cab, he gets about 20 mpg.  That's only 2 less than I do with a 4.0 V-6.

I owned a car repair business for years. If you get a new car or truck every 3-5 years domestics are fine. But they do not age as gracefully as Hondas, Toyotas, Nissans, and there off shoots, Lexus, Infinity, and Acrua. I have seen a lot of these with well over 200 K and the cloth interiors are not split at the seams  and the leather isn't cracked near as bad as domestics, and they just seam a lot more solid, rattles and squeaks, than the big 3

Not very fond of European cars, They require more maintenance than most all makes.

I'll stick with my Fords, had many with over 200,000 and still going when I got rid of 'em. Have a '95 with 176,000 and an '05 with 23,000 , hope the newer ones last like the older ones. Time will tell.
