I'm really interested in Buying a helmut camera and a recorder. I'm leaning towards the Jones Cam 520ex w/ the DVR4000HDD. http://www.jonescam.tv/

Does anybody have this set up or any other setup. Please let me know your opinions and reviews. All help is appreciated..

Thanks,

Gary

This was taken with my Motocomm DSR100 DVR kit, distributed by   http://www.rflimited.com  click on Motocomm, then scroll to the very bottom of the menu on the LH side of the page.

Though it is not a top line unit, it does do a respectable job, IMO

Feel free to PM me with any questions. BTW this taken 2/17/07 at Hatfield/McCoy's Pinnacle Creek Trails, 45 min. from Beckley WVa.

The mic and cam are powered by 8AA batts. OR you can wire it into a 12VDC system. The DVR has it's own built in batt. that lasts around 8 hrs. That Motocomm site should show the kit components. It is a turn-key kit, all you supply are the 8AA batteries, and a SD card..

Thanks Guys, I decided to go with the Jones Cam, my bud has it in his stock car and I seen a video with him hitting the wall at 150mph and the thing took a lickin and kept on Tickin DVR never even skipped. that's good enough for me. I should have it in a week I'll give a full review then.

Thanks again,

Gary

I have been looking for a camera to record my atv trips as well as the mountianbiking i used to do. But anything under $200 would be great.

Found this one, http://www.goprocamera.com

I ordered mine today, hope to get it within a week. I'll post my review of this one.

56 min worth of vid on a 2gig sd card, plus it's waterproof to about 100 ft. It's only 3 megapixels, but my old sony cybershot is just a 5 mp, can't be that bad a quality if you're riding in the trails.

I would like to find one that I could use when riding, but something that I could use hunting too. Any other options out there?

Got the camera today. ordered a handlebar mount as well. tried it out just riding my yard. This thing works good, needs better sound quality, but i think it might be better for sound if i mount it to my helmet instead of the luggage rack.

Will post vids as soon as i figure out how to and once it has seen action out on the trails.

I just rode today, had a blast and the new camera worked well.

Only thing is the helmet mount seems to have the best sound to it, the handlebar mount to the atv sucks up all the vibration and noise from the engine.

Here's a link, It's just a demo, though i think there are a lot of pics, some blurry, but you can tell. I was trying a feature the camera has that takes a photo every 5 seconds.

oops, forgot to put the link in there with it, it was a long night. I read a few online reviews, which came back mixed (makes you wonder if the good ones were added by somebody holding stake in it) I was hoping someone here had some 1st hand knowledge on them.

I think to get good quality ya have to drop some fairly serious cash into it.

Like the POV.1 for about $680.

1st link I found for it, there's better descriptions elsewhere.

I watched some vid's on youtube from the epic camera, from the looks of things, it would not be a good camera for riding, the sound quality while moving and with the wind/engine noise make it brutal. Might not be a bad one for hunting, although I read in one review that the low light footage that it puts out is not great.

I need to find a cheaper one for riding that you can turn the audio input off and have it on for doing sound bytes.....can just add tunes when editing for ride vids
