I think I know the answer  How effective is reformatting the Hard drive of a home PC  used for several yrs  for  internet banking ect?

If you are going to keep it, no problem however if you are selling it, you might want to use one of the free disk cleaners.....Here are a couple

OK i am using eraser to erase all the un used disk space on the hard drive  Now whats my next step Reformat? I might give  away or sell this PC  I want to do a clean install of OS and Drivers  and erase everything else

Yeah should be able to just put the windows cd in and follow directions for formatting. When it's done it will install a clean version of windows

Dell XP CD would not install  OS  said a new version was on Harddrive.I am earasing windows  right now I believe with Eraser

I just ordered a Biostar  motherboard that can take this 512MB stick of PC3200 DDR i have  and use my 1.6 Duron  also a 256 MB video card  total   w S/H $88

I pd  a premium  because i got a 17" wide screen  If i had to do it over i would just get a 15'  much cheaper   anyways I pd 2 G and You can get it a couple hundred Cheaper now I did get no interest for 2 yrs

Way too much for me. I think ice just paid close to that for a 17"........I am going to start looking at used ones soon. Most likely 15" but I want the wi-fi

Yes the wireless modem is a must these days  i have used it in Hotels  its sweet 

campgrounds are starting to get wireless  hotsposts-I see HungryJack Lodge has a hotspot in the main Lodge now

ComputerGeeks has a lot of laptops on sale

I use my wireless modem in just about every hotel room and Airport I get to. They work GREAT

i have an old used acer aspire P4. it works good and has a 17 inch screen, it just got shocked by lightning. the USB's don't work and neither does the phone line hook up. that's the only catch. i think everything else works.

i would be willing to sell.
