I have just picked up my new Outlander 800 this weekend, and man oh man, what a blast. I already see rust forming on the forward third of the muffler though. Is there anything I can do to remove this rust AND prevent it fromcoming back?

:)

That happened on my polaris too, thats what happens when the paint cooks off. I think you can get them ceramic coated, but I am not sure. You can always use a high temp paint, like something from the Eastwood company, but it to will eventually burn off.I use black BBQ grill paint on my headres on my truck which last for a while, but that still needs redone eventually. You could try that on your quad. Personally, I wouldnt worry about it. Hope that helps.

Thanks, Madfabricator. I kind of figured that was the answer, but I thought I'd ask anyway. After spending that much on an atv, I ust want to keep it lookingnits best. Happy riding!

Try heating the metal with a prophane torch then apply paint to the hot {not red hot metal] I used this tip from a friend who rebuilds engines. He paints his blocks b4 reassemeling them! He uses regular old crylon paint! looks like a factory job when painted!                 :cents:        :aniwh:

I painted mine with exhaust paint and so far its held up well. I removed the pipe, cleaned it up well, and put several light coats on there.

What did you use, like a high heat flat black exhaust paint?

I hit mine with my power washer at 2,400psi and it takes the rust off no problem.
