Went to pick-up my fender extenders yesterday, and had a chance to talk to the BRP mechanic a little bit, he also owns the business, anyway I asked him about the 10 hr maint. thing. More so the valve adjusting issue, he stated "He had gotten down to the valves on alot of the bikes, and only found 1 that actually needed adjustment, it was only out by .0001 of an inch". He said that if they need adjustment you will here them rattle a bit. Wild1 went in to ask about getting a service manual previously, and boy are these people reluctant to give it up, telling her that hubby don't have the right tools. Ok being a GM tech for last 15+ years and having $40,000+ inventory in tools... you know the rest... Never get in an argument with an idiot, you will never win... Also asked him about the brakes wear out too quick issue, he said when you replace the pads, put in pads for the DS650, as they are metallic pads and not organic material. As for the rest of the service they open the shop manual, and go thru the same checklist that is in the owners man... something I know I can handle, So input from people please, I love opinion's, is this just a guy trying line his pockets or what... Everyday when I work on a guests vehicle I live by the rule of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Will BRP spank me if I need warranty work down the road, and decline it because I did the maint. and the dealer didn't?

Ok going outside now to build an ark, the rain just will not stop...:roflao:. Maybe should have kept the boat instead of getting the wheeler's... NOT...:lolol:

I don't know about the DS brake pads but most guys buy EBC sintered or severe duty pads. You will find that if you don't ride in a lot of mud the stock pads last longer.

I think all dealers are required to perform warranty work regardless of where it was purchased but ????

Man I hear ya about this rain....enough already!

I do the service on both my Outty's. My dealer has no problem with that. I buy my oil filters and some other accessories from them, but I bought my service manual on ebay. I jusy did a search. It is a year older than my bikes, but not much has changed. Doing your own service will save a lot of money over the life of the bike IMO.

I bought (or should I say I have paid for one) off ebay but have not received it yet but it hasn't been but 10 days since I paid so maybe it is just taking a little while to get here.

Griz - My dealer said the same thing - If it ain't broke....  He said you willknow when they are out of wack so don't sweat the small stuff.  Change your oil, check the belt, and replace the brakes when worn with EBC Sintered and you will be good to go.  Other than the VR his words have been the gospel truth for my 400.
