You and me both.

If your "up north" there are some, if down south, not so much, unless you like desert type riding.

cool.... then to start you off go here. and find the forest maps thats close to you. it will have the fire roads in it. so far its ok to ride on them unless gated, marked or paved. also go to that forest service web site and check for the road closures notices

Within ABOUT 2 hrs of the bay area (depending on where) you have Cow Mountain near Ukiah, Knoxville north of Berryessay, Stonyford north of Clear Lake, little bit of a drive but blow Hollister and Carnegie away, heck I won't even bother going to either of those places anymore.

My friend and I are going up to Knoxvill this coming Saturday, PM me if you want to hook up, this will be our first trip there.

Will find out today, haven't talked to a single person who has ridden there. I guess it hasn't been open to the public for very long??

sounds like it's recently open, heard the trails aren't maintained too well. I was talking with someone who rides up there a lot, said trails just dead end at cliffs. One rider was stopped at a cliff and his buddy rear ended him, lost both atv's!

Is this Knoxville place an organized place, I mean trail signs, or an entrance to the park or is it just an  impromptu area to ride cause that sounds ridiculously dangerous, trails that end your life at the bottom of a cliff, sheesh.

I wrote a review in the trail review section. We encountered a few dead end trails.

Rode in Knoxville over the weekend, and it's a long haul.
RadierMike posted a trail review, so I'll keep it short.

It's a lot longer drive than Google Maps 1:15 drive time estimated, especially if towing a trailer. Took almost 2 hours from Napa. I can almost be in the Sierra's with that drive time.
I had no idea where I was at compared to the map I printed from the BLM Site. There are very few trail signs, and they tend to point you in dead end directions. I’ve never seen trail signs that only point you toward dead ends!
Trails just fizzle out, was on a nice wide fire road (taking it easy with the kid) and I thought I missed a turn, as the trail just stopped.
If they put some of our OHV $$ into Knoxville, it could be a fantastic place to ride. Now I've been there and spent few hours figuring out the tail system, second time will be much easier/more fun. Recommend only if you don’t want a long drive to the Sierras, and tired of Cow mountain, as it’s similar to Cow Mountain.

The access from lower lake is much quicker and easier.
