here is a few pics of our ride at nemidji... we didn't get any pictures of the main trail cause they were just full of whoops and winded around alot...these pics are from an old trail that looked like hadn't been ridin in a long time...and we found out why when we hit the bridge out about 5 miles deep into the trail...this would be considered the black diamond trail i guess...cause without a winch..your pretty much not gonna make it through..except for a few of you guys with the big a$$ outlaws and sh!t. so heres the link....enjoy!!! ==Olander

Just an FYI, the trail you were on most likely was not an ATV trail. It was probably a bridge for a snowmobile trail. I been to Nemadji quite often and know the trail system pretty good.

I love riding through mud like that. I didn't think that Nemadji had those kinds of trails. I guess you have to wander off of the main trails to find the good stuff.:dan:

If you ever want to ride in some really muddy swamps, you should try the Pine Center atv trail.

I guess I'm in shock that a Minnesota atv trail allows you to rip up a wetland or swamp. You can't even do that on your own property. May have to get out there and ride them trails before it changes.:dan:

your right Survey Guy there is no MN ATV trail that allows that. That had to have been a sled trail. Ooops

Folgers when you wander off the main trails to find the "good stuff" is why trails get closed and why it's so hard to get new ones built.

we went down the trail and found that particular spot..and said the same thing..."this can't be right!?!?!" so we went back to the beginning of the trail and the sign had a picture of an atv on it(with no X) so we said..ooook lets go. the park ranger even seen us on our way out all covered and mud head to toe..and he didn't even stop to say hi.... we would have pleaded our case anyhow...if it was a snowmobile trail..because they either screwed up the signs or soemone is F#%#in with us?  trust me guys..i obey all the rules...keep the trails clean and what not...so i'm not just fillin you guys full of crap.

That is one problem with Nemadji, SIGNAGE!! If you look DNR's atv map it shows that alot of their trails dead end on you. If you print it out, do it in color, makes it a lot easier to read. But I think I know of the place you went through. You follow a logging road in for about 3-4 miles, then it looks like it kind of ends, then you see a couple of trails that branch off. I believe people made their own loops, because if you look at the map, the trail was suppose to end.  They expect you to double back on the trail.

First time I ever went to Nemadji, some walkers stopped me and told me to get off the trail. I ask them why? They said it was closed to atv's.  Upon doubling back out on the trail, I came across the NO ATV sign that some moron pulled out and threw to the side. This was not a sign that just fell over.  This sign was mounted on a 5" wooden post and was buried 2 feet in the ground. Could tell by the dirt on the post. I tried to place it back, but the hole was too filled in.

Like Outlandish and Survey Guy said "It is illegal to ride in wetlands in MN" even on your own property.

If came across an area that looked like what I see in picture, especially in a State Forest, I would not go near it!!

Wasn't trying to rip you here, just be careful.

Not that I'm doubting you (since MN is the land of not allowing most everything) but what regulation says that?

about what? MN being the land of not allowing most everything?

Maybe "most everything" is too broad of a statement but when there's signs posted in the road ditches that say " Ditch Restoration - No driving allowed" that's getting darn close to "most everything".

I could be wrong, but I think he was refering to not being able to ride in wetlands on private property and you not knowing that is a no no.

Hell, they get pissed when you cut  down trees on your property. We had one guy that wanted to develop some property he had, so before we did any work or sent any plans to the city he cut almost every tree down. For those of you that don't know, most cities make you do a tree inventory and show a loss versus saved tally, that way the city decides how many trees you need to plant to replace the trees you removed for development. So in essence this guy only has to do a landscape plan with the minimum requirements because he had removed the trees in advance so he did'nt have to plant say ten new oaks for the one 48 inch oak he removed. I don't think he got in trouble but the city people were plenty pissed and tried to get him in trouble.

I had heard that, but usually don't believe everything I hear until someone can point me to the hard facts (and he did). I know the facts are out there but I don't have the
patience or time to dig thru the Chapters/Satutes and Sub Divisions of all the regulations out there, there's tooooooooo many......
