"Motorbike Death manual":  Maybe it's just me, but I would bet that this was written in England in the early '40's during the "Blitz".  The sketches and terminoldgy are obviously from that time period. The term motorbike hasn't been used for 40 years.

It was widely believed in England that the Germans were going to invade the island after they occupied Paris. The German Army was well known for using motorcycles  (motorbikes) as messenger carriers and "runners".  Almost all of the  booby traps are meant to kill the rider.  The worst thing I've ever heard the "Enviros" do is pounding heavy spikes into old standing lumber that is likely to be cut down and run through a lumber processing plant. The spikes break the expensive blades that slice the tree into boards.  Lumber workers have been badly hurt by the exploding saw blades, but that wasn't their primary purpose.

Just can't see this being any kind of a threat against ATFVers or off-road bikers by "Enviros". If anything I would take it more as humor.

Sorry, don't see the humor....this booklet could very well have been written for British troops. That does not mean that is not circulating today among the extremists. I know a spike strip was found near here right across an ATV trail few years back. Thats enough to convince me! ELF and EARTH FIRST and the like  will stop at nothing, not to mention the small (maybe even more dangerous) wanna be groups. Minnesota has it's share of these green groups.

You're right, "humor" was a poor choice of words.

One incident in Minnesota a number of years ago hardly indicates a  growing movement.

In Wisconsin a number of years ago some kids were throwing a manikin in front of cars, causing them to swerve off the road. They were arrested.   They weren't enviromentalists protesting the automobile.  Bored kid's vandalism.

There was a case where a piano wire was stretched across a snowmobile trail and a guy was killed.  Perpetrator also arrested and went to jail.  An old farmer that didn't like the noise late at night.

I think the mood is getting much healthier up North as their economy takes a dump and snowmobilers and ATVers are the only outside money that comes to the small towns.

The "Green" party and it's sub-groups will always be there.  You'll always find a few "save the whales" and save the "snail darter" protestors because the EPA has too much power, because of the liberal judges.  They will try to make state forests off limits to anybody except hikers. That's just the way their mind works. They're today's version of the '60's hippie freaks looking for notoriety..

In Wisconsin, towns like Black River Falls, Door County, Iron River, and Park Falls depend on snowmobile and ATV income to survive the off season.  If they knew a local was harrassing one of their "guests" they'd string him up in a tree.

The longer the Republicans can remain in power the more logging road access and federal lands will be opened up for public enjoyment.  We went through 8 years of environmental bull:pod: from the Democrats and it takes a while to undo their damage (forest fires, landslides, flooding, etc) from failure to clear out dead undergrowth or cutting more mature trees to make room for secondary growths, or controlled "burns" to start new growths.

...nuff said.
