Part of an ATV trail in Clark County is closed.

The Clark County Forestry and Parks Department says a segment of trail from Gorman Avenue east to Reesewood Avenue is closed.

It runs through several private properties.

A landowner decided to stop using his land as a summer ATV trail because of excessive off-trail riding and vandalism.

Clark County is reminding people to stay on the designated trails and report all trail abuse.

We went up to Clark Co this weekend. The local ATV club had a informational booth set up out on the trail at the one end of the section of trail that was closed. They were handing out free water bottles playing cards from the local Casino, maps and other hand outs, and ATV club shirts hats and other stuff for sale, and a donations jar as well as a very low key new membership drive going on.

Found out what had happened was someone on a atv drove off the trail into the woods and stole a BIG BUDDY LADDERSTAND for deer hunting. This is a deerstand that is designed to allow an adult and child to sit in and deer hunt out of together. They can cost between $200 and $300 dollars. I think this was the straw that broke the farmers back, he decided enough was enough and closed his section of land with the trail on it.

Talking with the local atv club members there they are doubtful the farmer will ever reopen his land to trail use again including snowmobiles.

It's really too bad there have to be some people that don't think the rules and laws apply to them...Is there a go around for his property or is it a dead end trail now?

There is a different trail to take,it just takes you way out of the way to get where this trail went.
