I will be staying at our property near Gilbert over the fourth of July with a bunch of other riders and would like to hit some trails other then the ATV Park. We used to ride north of McKinley, but since they started the new mine most of it is closed. Any ideas? Any body else have a ride lined up we could jion in on? We have ridden north and east of Gilbert towards Aurora, but never south.

Nothing south that I know of except maybe ditches. East between Mckinley and Biwabik is iffy too. The old road is out because of the mining and the old railroad grade has new power poles all along it. Not sure whats up with that as I haven't been over there since they went up. The trail from the park to Biwabik on the south side of the highway is still sleds only and not passable in many areas. The trail between Aurora and Hoyt lakes is not passable right now because of deep water near the bridge. If you wanted to trailer, there is Big Aspen north of Virginia on Hwy 53...very easy trails and kind of boring. Then farther away is Thistledew trails and if you really wanted a drive, Silver Bay's Red Dot/Moose walk trails are good.

About an hour from Gilbert there's also the Stony Spur II up near Babbitt.

Oh yeah forgot about that one. Easy to forget it. It's like riding down a 20 mile long gravel road but some people like that trail.....

But at least that gravel road has a outhouse at the end of it.

A happy site for most female riders. :tg:
