I was out there a couple of years back and I know they were going to redesignate the national forest as too where you could ride but I don't know if they have yet. Here is a webpage I made about our ride.

We just got back from riding in the black hills. We stayed at Deerfield Lake Resort. I highly recomend this place. It is clean and the owners are friendly and helpful. They have maps of where to ride and help you find good trails. There are hundreds of miles of trails there. It is about 15 miles northwest of Hill City. They also have fuel there. You can ride your atv right from your camp site. They do have some cabins you can rent also. http://www.deerfieldlakeresort.com

This is a no worries fun trip!
