Weekend of May 24th...., Lots of swamps, Marsh/mud Rocks, Trees, Unlimited area with no permits needed. (need insurance and registration)

If anyone is interested I can possbily get a group rate at a local motel or a overnight camping deal maybe?

Chime in if anyone is interested.

If you get one going I will try to be there. Weekends are precious though. I am likely good for May 24 and 31 weekends and then likely tied up until August.

Drivers Lisc & Birth Cert to cross, We dont do the trail thing here, just go north of the city 5 mils and you have unlimted crown land to ride. I Figured you would chime in walleyeguy, I was thinkin that escape lake road is a good area and close to hit some sweet riding and do a ouimet canyon run.

Conditions are as follows,

Logging roads
Trails between lakes light to moderate mud(if you look to go in it)
Fallen trees
Rocks (if you go on them)
Muskeg(if you go in it)
shallow creeks

You can avoid mud easily here, mostly trail and Logging roads. Very enjoyable riding with some high elevation 800 FT ish and excellent scenery.

I will contact some hotel's and get rates, I can also bring my enclosed trailer for the ride and have a generator and tools available so that a minor repair can be taken care of if needed.

I guess the terrain is best described as grand Marais MN type, Lots of trees and bush.

If I can answer any more questions feel free to ask. I will post later today and provide hotel Phone #s and such.

Escape Lake Road is good for me. Although I live in Shuniah I am not real familiar with all the logging roads. I do have on my GPS a trail from home to Magone and then up to Escape. I think Magone hits Escape at about 11km. I have been all the way across on the snowmachine to Good Morning Lakes this winter. I know there is a bunch of minimg exploration going on up there, heading north off of Escape at mileage 17 so the road will be in excellent shape to there. There are many side roads that go into bush cut over areas with excellent views of Lake Superior.

Kesa i hope to don't mind if I answer Cementhead.
Cementhead, there is a KOA with electric and water and sewer, (and a driving range) right on the corner of Highway 11/17 and Highway 527 (Spruce River Road). From there you would have to truck trailer the quad about 12 miles north up Escape Lake Road, (or 8 miles up to Magone Road. There are nicer campgrounds but they are much farther away.

I just checked on my Mapping programs and it would be about 17KM from Ouimet to Dorion Inn through the back roads. It would be a great place to have some lunch and top up with fuel. That would be a one way trip about 55km from 587 to Dorion Inn on Escape with no detours, (of which there could be many). This is gonna be great.
