-- Don't Play With Fire Or You May Get Burned -- THURMAN, N.Y. - A man siphoning gas from a dump truck in the dark gave himself away to authorities when he used a lighter to see how he was doing. According to the sheriff's depart- ment, the gasoline thief was transferring fuel from a truck at a business in the Adirondacks to a gas can when he used a lighter to check his progress. Well, we all know that flames and gasoline don't mix. A fire started that caused minor damage to his face and hands, and spread to a nearby fork- lift. The thief has been charged with petit larceny and criminal mischief. Apparently, he doesn't learn very quickly, as this was his second arrest in a month for stealing gas from businesses in the town.
